L/S Biotech Analyst

We are working with a high-performing investment firm that is looking to add a Biotech Analyst to its investment team in New York or San Francisco.The analyst will join a sophisticated long/short public-markets investment team focused on fundamental research across biotech and healthcare. The role will involve identifying investment opportunities, developing differentiated views on companies and sectors, and conducting deep fundamental research to support investment decisions.The position will offer exposure to the full investment process, including idea generation, company diligence, financial modeling, valuation, management assessment and ongoing portfolio monitoring. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of their coverage and developing a differentiated perspective through rigorous fundamental work.The ideal candidate will have:PhD or MD requiredSeveral years of experience as a Biotech / Healthcare Analyst at a leading hedge fundStrong experience conducting fundamental public-markets researchDeep knowledge of biotech, therapeutics and/or healthcareA demonstrated track record of generating and evaluating investment ideasStrong financial modeling, valuation and analytical skillsExperience conducting detailed company, clinical, competitive and industry researchThe ability to communicate investment views clearly and conciselyHedge fund experience is required. Candidates coming from VC, private equity or other private-markets investing backgrounds will not be considered.
