The team is driving a pioneering initiative at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology, offering an innovative environment for scientific and technical professionals.Role Description The Lab Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in San Francisco, CA. This role is responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, including managing equipment, supplies, and workflows to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant environment. The Lab Manager coordinates and supports research teams, implements and maintains quality control procedures, and establishes best practices for laboratory techniques and data handling. Responsibilities include training and mentoring lab staff, scheduling equipment maintenance and calibrations, tracking inventory, and collaborating with scientists and engineers to enable high-quality research and development activities. The Lab Manager also contributes to process improvements, documentation, and adherence to regulatory and institutional standards.Qualifications Strong laboratory skills and experience with day-to-day lab operations, including sample handling and standard protocols.Proficiency with laboratory equipment, including setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of vendor support.Experience in quality control practices, including establishing, monitoring, and improving QA/QC procedures.Well-developed analytical skills for interpreting experimental results, identifying issues, and optimizing workflows.Background in research and development (R&D), preferably in biology, biotechnology, or a related field.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering) or equivalent practical experience.Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with experience coordinating multiple projects and teams.Effective written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and collaboration with cross-functional partners.Previous experience in lab management or supervision is highly beneficial.
