Professionals joining Shifa can expect exposure to advanced clinical practices and multidisciplinary collaboration.ResponsibilitiesPerform cytogenetic investigations, including chromosome analysis and karyotyping.Perform and interpret FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) tests according to established protocols.Prepare, culture, harvest, and process specimens for cytogenetic analysis.Analyze chromosome preparations and identify numerical and structural chromosomal abnormalities.Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of laboratory records.Perform quality control procedures and comply with laboratory safety and quality standards.Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables as per established procedures.Follow applicable JCI, CAP, ISO, and institutional laboratory standards.Coordinate with pathologists and other laboratory staff for timely and accurate processing of cases.Participate in internal quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement activities.Key ExpertiseChromosome analysisConventional karyotypingFISH techniquesCytogenetic specimen processing and cultureIdentification of chromosomal abnormalitiesRequirementsB.Sc. (Hons.) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.Minimum 3 years of relevant post-degree experience in a reputable diagnostic laboratory, preferably with hands-on experience in Cytogenetics, karyotyping, and FISH.Experience in a CAP-accredited / internationally accredited diagnostic laboratory will be an advantage.
