Job SummaryThe Laboratory Director is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for laboratory services across the hospital group. The role oversees diagnostic laboratory operations, quality assurance, workforce performance, equipment management, and regulatory compliance while ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory results to support patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight of laboratory services, including Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and other diagnostic disciplinesDevelop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, quality assurance programmes, and operational improvement initiativesMonitor laboratory performance indicators, turnaround times, testing accuracy, and service efficiency to ensure high-quality diagnostic servicesOversee laboratory equipment, reagents, consumables, inventory management, and cost optimization in coordination with Supply Chain and FinanceLead laboratory supervisors, specialists, and technicians while overseeing staffing, competency, training, and performance managementCollaborate with medical, nursing, and other clinical departments to ensure effective diagnostic support and timely communication of critical resultsEnsure compliance with laboratory safety standards, infection prevention requirements, accreditation standards, and applicable healthcare regulationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or a related field; Master's degree in Laboratory Management, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline is preferredValid SCFHS professional classification and registrationMinimum 8 years of relevant laboratory experience, including significant laboratory management or leadership experienceStrong experience in hospital laboratory operations, quality management, equipment management, and laboratory information systems (LIS)Hospital laboratory leadership experience is requiredKnowledge of CBAHI, CAP, ISO 15189, and other relevant laboratory accreditation and regulatory standardsStrong leadership, operational management, analytical, and communication skills
