WECO continues to build a strong reputation as a trusted healthcare partner across diverse settings.Role Description The Laboratory Technician role at WECO Medical Services is a full-time, on-site position based in Basra. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, handling and processing samples, and operating laboratory equipment in accordance with established protocols. Daily tasks include preparing specimens, maintaining accurate records, labeling and storing samples, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory environment. The role involves adhering to quality control procedures, following infection prevention and safety guidelines, and supporting diagnostic services for home healthcare, occupational health, and emergency medical operations. The Laboratory Technician collaborates with medical staff, communicates test results in a clear and timely manner, and assists in troubleshooting basic equipment and testing issues.Qualifications Proficiency in core laboratory skills, including sample collection, preparation, and routine laboratory procedures, with experience working as a laboratory technician.Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including proper operation, calibration, and basic maintenance of instruments and devices.Strong quality control and quality assurance skills, including adherence to standardized protocols, documentation, and regulatory or accreditation requirements.Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to interpret test results, identify irregularities, and escalate concerns appropriately.Relevant technical diploma or degree in laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or a related field.Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection prevention, and handling of biohazard materials.Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tests and tasks efficiently.Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary medical environment.Previous experience in clinical or diagnostic laboratories, particularly in emergency or home healthcare settings, is an advantage.Willingness to work on-site in Basra and comply with WECO policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
