Location: Rockford, ILEmployment Type: Full-TimeCompensation: $32.00-$40.00 per hourTree Top Staffing is recruiting an experienced CNC Machinist - Large Part Horizontal Mill for a well-established precision manufacturing organization in Rockford, Illinois.This is a senior-level machining opportunity for an experienced professional who can independently set up and operate large CNC horizontal boring and milling machines while producing large, close-tolerance components from provided programs, drawings, and specifications.The ideal candidate will bring extensive large-part machining experience, advanced setup capabilities, a strong understanding of tooling, workholding and gaging, and the ability to identify machining risks before they affect part quality.

This position is best suited for a machinist who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and consistently produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Independently perform complete setups and operate large CNC horizontal boring and milling machinesUse provided programs to produce close-tolerance components accurately and efficientlySelect and properly apply tooling, workholding, and machining methods appropriate for each jobUnderstand machining processes and recognize potential risk areas before and during machiningMonitor machining operations and make appropriate adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional requirementsPerform in-process inspections and verify dimensions using appropriate gaging and precision measuring equipmentApply knowledge of Fanuc G-code programming when reviewing or adjusting machining programsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and process-related issuesPerform daily machine maintenance activities, including checking fluid levels and general machine conditionMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaCollaborate with other machinists, supervisors, engineering, and manufacturing personnelFollow all safety, quality, and manufacturing proceduresQualifications and Requirements:High school diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 10 years of large-part machining experience requiredExtensive experience independently setting up and operating CNC horizontal boring and milling equipment requiredAdvanced large-part CNC machining and setup skillsStrong understanding of machining processes, tooling, workholding, and gagingSound understanding of Fanuc G-code programmingAbility to recognize machining risks and proactively prevent part-quality issuesAbility to produce close-tolerance work accurately and efficientlyStrong math and problem-solving skillsStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a teamStrong attention to quality, safety, and detailMust be able to read and understand EnglishMachine Types:Experience with similar large horizontal boring and milling equipment is highly relevant.Equipment at the facility includes:Ikegai NB 110T CNC HBMIkegai NB 130P CNC HBMNiigata HN80DNiigata HN100DToyoda FX 800Physical Demands:Ability to stand and work for extended periodsFrequent walking, bending, reaching, and movement around large machining equipmentManual dexterity required for machine setup, tooling, and precision measurementAbility to safely handle tooling, fixtures, materials, and components associated with machining operationsAbility to perform physical activities associated with large-part machine setup and operationWork Environment:Exposure to moving equipment and machine partsHigh noise levels from operating machineryExposure to fumes, dust, and mistSkin exposure to oils and cutting fluids
