Lead AI Engineer - Leading Financial Institution

Our client, a leading financial institution, is expanding its Digital, Data & Technology team and is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to drive the development and delivery of AI solutions across the organisation.The role is an amazing opportunity where you will lead a team of AI Engineers in building and scaling AI applications, including RAG, AI agents, and workflow-based solutions, from prototype through to production.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development of AI applications using technologies such as RAG, AI agents, and AI workflows. Take AI solutions from prototyping through testing, evaluation, and production across the full SDLC. Develop services and integrate internal/external APIs and MCPs to support AI applications. Work closely with Data Scientists, Platform Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to deliver AI solutions. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of AI Engineers while overseeing multiple AI projects, timelines, and deliverables. Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to apply them to business challenges and enterprise use cases. Education & Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in AI Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Proven experience delivering RAG or other AI applications is essential. Strong experience in team leadership and mentoring. Hands-on programming experience, particularly with Python and SQL. Experience with LLMs, AI orchestration, and vector databases such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Milvus, Elasticsearch, or Qdrant. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Alibaba Cloud. Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD is an advantage. Experience with web application development using technologies such as React, Next.js, or TypeScript is a plus. Financial services or large-scale enterprise experience is preferred.
