Senior Android Engineer (Design Systems & Prototyping)Work Location: 100% Remote (Must be based within the United States).Employment: 6 + month contract to (hire + multi-extension capability)Compensation: 100 /hr. +/- based on experience.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior / Lead Android Engineer for a high-priority, engagement. Sitting directly at the intersection of engineering and user experience, this role serves as a key bridge between UI/UX designers and engineering teams. You will partner closely with product design to build tools, prototyping environments, and scalable Android UI components that empower both designers and developers.This position requires an immediate contributor with deep, hands-on experience owning and implementing design systems at scale.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering Collaboration: Partner closely with UI/UX designers to build tooling, platforms, and component frameworks that enable rapid Android prototyping and development.Cross-Functional Communication: Translate complex technical concepts, constraints, and architecture into clear, actionable language for designers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders.Design Systems Ownership: Build, maintain, and evolve scalable Android UI patterns, libraries, and design system components.Technical Support: Support cross-functional teams across design and engineering to ensure seamless alignment between design vision and technical implementation.Required Qualifications & ExperienceCore Technical Experience7–10+ Years of Android Development: Extensive experience in senior or lead-level Android engineering roles, preferably within large technology enterprise environments (FAANG/FAANG-tier) or top-tier interactive agencies.Android SDK Expertise: Expert-level mastery of the Android SDK and modern Android application architecture.Dual UI Framework Expertise: Demonstrated mastery of both modern Jetpack Compose and traditional XML-based Android Views.Design Systems Implementation: Direct, hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining design system libraries and designer-developer tooling. (Note: General familiarity with design systems is not sufficient; practical implementation is required.)Specialized Profile RequirementsNative Android Focus: Primary experience must be in native Android development (not primarily React Native or cross-platform framework experience).Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of collaborating tightly with product designers and agency/design teams.Preferred / Nice-to-Have SkillsAndroid Animation: Deep experience with advanced Android animations, motion design, and performance optimization.UX Mindset: Strong design sensibility and intuition for user experience best practices.Modern Tooling: Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools and agentic workflows.Distributed Teams: Proven ability to thrive and self-manage in a fully remote, geographically distributed team environment.#IND
