Lead Business Analyst

The Lead Business Analyst - Data Management & Analytics is responsible for bridging business requirements and data/technology delivery. The role will lead business analysis activities for data-driven initiatives, translating business needsinto clear requirements, business rules, data requirements, functional specifications, and actionable delivery plans.The role will be working closely with business stakeholders, data owners, application teams, data engineers, data governance teams, and technical developers to ensure that data solutions deliver the required business outcomeswhile maintaining data quality, governance, traceability, and regulatory alignment.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Requirements ManagementLead requirement-gathering activities with business stakeholders and subject-matter expertsFacilitate business requirement workshops, walkthroughs, validation sessions, and stakeholder discussionsTranslate business requirements into detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional requirements, business rules, data requirements, and acceptance criteriaAnalyze business processes, identify gaps, dependencies, and improvement opportunitiesEnsure requirements are clearly understood and traceable throughout the solution delivery lifecycleManage requirement changes and assess their business and data impactData Analysis & Business RulesAnalyze source systems, datasets, data availability, field definitions, relationships, and data flows to determine whether business requirements can be supportedDefine and document business rules, calculation logic, validation criteria, thresholds, exception criteria, and reporting requirementsWork with technical teams to translate business rules into data transformations, analytical logic, and reporting solutionsValidate data outputs against approved business requirements and expected business outcomesPerform root-cause analysis for data discrepancies, quality issues, and reporting gapsData Management & GovernanceSupport business stakeholders in identifying and defining Critical Data Elements (CDEs)Support data ownership, stewardship, business glossary, metadata, and data-domain activitiesEnsure business requirements are aligned with data governance policies and organizational data-management standardsCollaborate with Data Governance and Data Quality teams to identify and remediate data-quality issuesDefine data-quality rules and validation requirements based on business expectationsSupport data governance and regulatory initiatives, including NDMO and PDPL-related requirements where applicableAnalytics & ReportingLead the business analysis component of data analytics, dashboards, management reporting, and business intelligence initiativesGather and validate reporting requirements from business usersDefine KPI/KRI requirements, calculation logic, thresholds, exception criteria, reporting frequency, and expected outputsReview dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs to ensure they accurately represent approved business requirementsSupport business users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test-scenario definition, validation, defect clarification, and sign-offStakeholder & Delivery ManagementAct as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teamsCoordinate with data owners, application owners, DBAs, data engineers, developers, and other technology teamsTrack requirements, dependencies, risks, issues, and delivery actionsFacilitate status meetings, workshops, walkthroughs, and decision-making sessionsSupport project planning, project charters, SOPs, delivery documentation, and operational-readiness activitiesSupport go-live planning, post-production validation, issue resolution, and knowledge-transfer activitiesSolution & Technical CollaborationWork closely with Data Engineers and Solution Architects to ensure proposed solutions meet business requirementsUnderstand data integration, ETL/ELT, data warehouse, data lake/lakehouse, metadata, and data-quality concepts sufficiently to challenge and validate technical solutionsAnalyze SQL-based datasets and technical metadata to validate requirements and investigate data issuesReview data mappings and source-to-target specificationsParticipate in solution walkthroughs and provide business-analysis input into technical design decisionsRequirements5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Management, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related fieldStrong experience gathering and documenting business requirementsExperience working across business and technical teamsStrong understanding of data analysis, data quality, data integration, and reportingExperience defining business rules, data requirements, KPIs/KRIs, and validation criteriaExperience with UAT, stakeholder validation, and solution acceptanceExperience working with data governance, metadata, data ownership, and data-quality conceptsExperience in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments is preferredExperience with regulatory/data-management frameworks such as NDMO and PDPL is advantageousTechnical & Analytical SkillsStrong SQL and data-analysis capabilitiesUnderstanding of ETL/ELT and data integration conceptsUnderstanding of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Lakehouse architecturesExperience with BI and visualization platforms such as Power BI or TableauUnderstanding of data-quality management and profilingUnderstanding of metadata and data-catalog conceptsExperience with data-governance platforms such as Informatica Axon/EDC is advantageousExperience with Informatica, Cloudera, Alteryx, or similar data platforms is advantageousAbility to understand technical data structures and translate them into business languageProfessional SkillsStrong Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Data Management, or a related disciplineProfessional certifications in Data Management, Business Analysis, Data Governance, or related areas are preferred
