Lead Data Engineer

About the role:On behalf of our client, DATAHEAD is looking for a hands-on Lead Data Engineer / Data Platform Lead to build the data foundation. This is not a traditional BI or reporting role. You will work with large volumes of operational data including vehicle telemetry, GPS and location data, routes, driver activity, transport orders, customers and external data sources. Your goal will be to make that data reliable, scalable and usable across Product, Engineering and future AI / agentic capabilities.ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Own:Assess and map existing data landscapeDesign the target data architecture for the next stage of the platformBuild reliable batch and real-time data pipelinesIntegrate data across vehicles, GPS, routes, drivers, transport orders, customers and external systemsCreate trusted core data models across vehicles, drivers, orders, routes, customers and operational eventsImprove data quality, monitoring, observability and reliabilityEnable real-time access to operational data for product and automation use casesBuild data services that future AI agents can safely query and act againstWork closely with Product and Engineering to support new customer-facing functionalityEstablish strong engineering standards around testing, documentation and deploymentCreate a scalable data foundation that future Data and AI hires can build onRequired SkillsStrong Python and SQLProven experience building production-grade data pipelinesExperience with cloud data platforms and modern data architectureExperience with real-time or event-driven dataStrong data modelling skillsExperience integrating APIs and multiple operational systemsExperience with data quality, monitoring and observabilityComfortable owning architecture and remaining hands-on with deliveryAble to work closely with Product and Engineering in a fast-moving environmentFluent in English and Lithuanian Preferred SkillsLogistics, transport, telematics or IoT experienceKafka, Pub/Sub or other streaming technologiesAirflow, dbt or similar orchestration and transformation toolsExperience preparing data platforms for ML, LLM or agentic AI applicationsExperience in real-time, high-volume or event-driven environmentsVilnius-based office and hybrid work possibilities.Gross salary range is 5000- 6500 EUR/month.This search is being delivered exclusively by DATAHEAD.Apply directly or message me confidentially to discuss.
