We value collaboration, technical excellence, continuous learning, and an ownership-driven approach to delivering results.Position OverviewVRIZE is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer – Java Backend to design and develop enterprise-level, high-volume web application platforms and scalable technical solutions using Java and JEE technologies.This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an engineer who can guide and mentor Java development teams, contribute to solution architecture, and collaborate across Product, Business, QA, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop enterprise-level, high-volume web applications and technical solutions leveraging Java and JEE technologies.Design, develop, implement, maintain, and support Java-based components and interfaces.Lead project teams of Java/J2EE, Spring, Spark, and database developers, providing hands-on technical guidance and mentorship.Architect technical solutions, break features into user stories, and drive execution through completion.Participate in technical design discussions and solution-design sessions with Product Management and Software Development teams.Work with Product and Business teams to understand business needs and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.Contribute to the evaluation, prototyping, and selection of software solutions.Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices and software-quality measurement tools.Coordinate with QA, DevOps, Infrastructure, and SRE teams to maintain stable development environments.Work with Content Management Systems (CMS), including content rendering, template customization, and API-based data handling.Required Qualifications8+ years of experience developing with Java technologies, including systems analysis, object-oriented design, object-oriented programming, and debugging.4+ years of experience working with technologies including:Java 8+Spring BootSpring CloudMicroservices ArchitectureREST APIsGradleHands-on experience with a Content Management System (CMS).Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and/or SQL databases such as Oracle.Experience with build and deployment tools such as Git, Stash, and Jenkins.Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring Java development teams.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Spark programming.Retail/eCommerce experience.Experience developing high-volume, enterprise-scale web applications.Strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.Technical SkillsJava | JEE/J2EE | Spring Boot | Spring Cloud | Microservices | REST APIs | Gradle | Cassandra | Oracle | CMS | Git | Stash | Jenkins | Spark | Agile/ScrumWhy Join VRIZE?At VRIZE, you'll have the opportunity to work on complex enterprise technology initiatives while collaborating with experienced engineering, product, and business teams.
