Lead Frontend Engineer (React)

Hexa Consulting is looking for a React Frontend Lead to join our Client's team in a hybrid work model from Lisbon.Job Details: Lisbon, Portugal | Hybrid, with office presence 3 times per week in Coimbra, Lisbon, Porto or Viseu | TechnologyMandatory Requirements:5+ years of professional frontend development experience, including at least 2 years working extensively with React.Previous experience leading, mentoring or coordinating engineers, either formally or as a Tech Lead.Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript and modern React, including hooks, context and component patterns.Strong knowledge of CSS and modern styling frameworks.Solid understanding of frontend architecture, including state management, routing, performance optimization and testing.Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand or React Query.Experience integrating frontend applications with REST and/or GraphQL APIs and backend services.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git and Agile development practices.Proven experience delivering production-quality software in collaborative, cross-functional environments.Strong communication skills and the ability to balance hands-on development with technical and people leadership.English proficiency at C1 level.Nice to Have:Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Technology Stack: JavaScript | TypeScript | React | React Hooks | Context | CSS | Redux | Zustand | React Query | REST | GraphQL | CI/CD | Git

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support a frontend engineering team through technical guidance, mentoring and hands-on development.Design, develop and maintain scalable, production-ready user interfaces using modern frontend engineering practices.Define and guide frontend architecture decisions related to component organization, state management, routing, performance and testing.Collaborate with backend, product and other cross-functional teams to integrate frontend applications with services and APIs.Promote high standards of code quality, maintainability and delivery efficiency.Support AI-focused software initiatives by applying strong frontend engineering practices to scalable digital solutions.Help the team analyze technical challenges, make sound engineering decisions and implement practical solutions.Balance technical delivery with team leadership, supporting the growth and effectiveness of frontend engineers.
