Apply & track with Apply EdgeCompany DescriptionThe Canadian Gas Association (CGA) is the national voice of Canada’s gas energy delivery industry, including natural gas, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen. Its members include energy distribution and transmission companies, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers of goods and services supporting the sector. CGA’s Canadian-owned utility members operate across eight provinces and one territory, serving over 7.6 million customer locations through nearly 600,000 kilometres of underground infrastructure. This network meets close to 40 percent of Canada’s energy needs and delivers an evolving mix of affordable, reliable, lower-emitting fuels. CGA members play a key role in Canada’s energy system, supporting resilience, innovation, and lower emissions for approximately two-thirds of Canadians.OverviewDevelop and lead CGA’s government relations and regulatory functions including the development of member approved policy and briefing materials. The position includes building and fostering relationships with elected and departmental decision makers and advancing our goals as set out in CGA’s 5-year strategy. Key ResponsibilitiesGovernment Relations: Develop and deliver annual workplans with clear objectives and KPIs. Build strong relationships with federal departments, elected officials, public servants and key stakeholders. Policy & Advocacy: Prepare policy positions, submissions, briefing notes, correspondence and analysis on legislative and regulatory issues affecting CGA members. Regulatory Affairs: Build productive relationships with economic regulators and member organizations working on economic regulation. Committee Leadership: Lead relevant standing committees and working groups, including agendas, workplans, meetings and follow through.Member Engagement: Coordinate member briefings, government and stakeholder meetings and Board updates. External Representation: Represent CGA at external meetings, conferences, workshops and committees as delegated. Internal Integration: Work closely with the Senior Director and CGA executive team to ensure alignment across core CGA functions. Experience and CompetenciesProgressive experience in government relations, public policy, regulatory affairs or association membership.Strong understanding of Canadian legislative, political and regulatory processes.Experience working within Parliament and/or the office of an elected official. Excellent writing, presentation, relationship-management and facilitation skills.Ability to manage multiple stakeholder-driven projects, budgets and deadlines.Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience; bilingualism an asset.Success in the RoleSuccess will be reflected in well-informed advocacy, trusted relationships, responsive member engagement, disciplined execution and measurable progress on CGA’s policy priorities.Please send your resume and cover letter to KLarmer@cga.ca.
