Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob Description:Job Title: Lead Internal Quality Assurer (Lead IQA)Location: Hybrid / On the roadContract: Full-timeSalary: £33,021.03-£39,463.00Job RoleThe Lead Internal Quality Assurer is responsible for leading and maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment through effective internal quality assurance processes.The post holder will oversee sampling, standardisation, and assessor development to ensure consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all programmes. The role is central to maintaining awarding body requirements, regulatory compliance, and organisational quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance and ComplianceLead the organisation’s Internal Quality Assurance strategy and activity.Plan and implement robust sampling strategies across programmes and qualifications.Monitor the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment practice.Ensure assessment decisions are valid, fair, reliable, and consistent.Maintain compliance with awarding organisation requirements and funding regulations.Support organisational readiness for external audit, inspection, and quality review, including Ofsted.Sampling and StandardisationOversee and complete sampling of learner work, feedback, and assessment decisions.Lead standardisation meetings to ensure consistency across tutors and assessors.Identify areas of good practice and areas requiring improvement.Monitor the quality of tutor feedback, including embedding English, maths, and SPAG development.Produce quality reports and recommendations for improvement.Tutor and Assessor DevelopmentCoach, mentor, and support tutors and assessors to improve practice.Provide developmental feedback following sampling and observations.Identify training needs and contribute to staff development plans.Support trainee tutors and new staff with quality expectations and standards.Performance MonitoringMonitor learner progress, achievement, retention, and timely completion.Review trends in learner outcomes and identify quality risks.Monitor compliance with Off-the-Job Training requirements, gateway readiness, and learner evidence.Support intervention planning for learners identified as at risk.Quality Systems and ReportingMaintain accurate quality assurance records and audit trails.Produce monthly and quarterly quality reports for senior leaders.Contribute to Self-Assessment Reports (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).Support policy development and implementation.Leadership and CollaborationLine manage or coordinate IQAs where applicable.Work closely with curriculum leads, managers, tutors, and support teams.Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.Lead on specific quality improvement projects as required.Safeguarding, Equality and InclusionPromote safeguarding, Prevent, and learner wellbeing.Ensure inclusive practice is embedded across provision.Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in assessment and quality assurance.Person SpecificationEssential QualificationsRecognised IQA qualification (e.g. Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance Processes and Practice)Teaching qualification (AET, CET, DET or equivalent)Level 2 English and maths (minimum)Essential ExperienceSignificant experience in assessment and internal quality assuranceExperience of sampling, standardisation, and quality monitoringExperience supporting tutor/assessor developmentExperience working within apprenticeship, adult learning, or vocational education settingsExperience preparing for audit and inspection activityHealth and Social Care occupational competence up to Level 5Experience in End Point AssessmentEssential KnowledgeUnderstanding of awarding body requirementsKnowledge of apprenticeship standards, gateway, and assessment practiceStrong understanding of quality assurance processesKnowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, and equality legislationUnderstanding of quality expectations linked to OfstedKnowledge of adult care / health & social care qualificationsEssential SkillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to give constructive developmental feedbackStrong report writing and analytical skillsHigh attention to detailOrganised and able to prioritise workloadConfident using e-portfolio and learner management systemsDesirableLeadership or management qualificationExperience line managing staffExperience writing SAR/QIP documentationPersonal AttributesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:High professional standardsIntegrity and fairnessCoaching mindsetSolution-focused approachAbility to challenge professionallyCommitment to continuous improvementPositive and collaborative leadership styleAdditional InformationYou must have your own transport, a Broadband connection at home and car insurance covered by business use.
