The Lead Mechanical Engineer owns a product or key subsystem from concept through mass production and is a foundational member of the mechanical engineering team. Hands-on, high-ownership, startup pace.ScopeOwns full hardware design: performance, high-volume manufacturability, costTranslates requirements into engineering architectures; runs design trades via CAD, FEA, prototypingLeads design reviews, produces engineering drawings, root-causes hardware and manufacturing failuresPartners with Manufacturing/Supply Chain on build instructions, tooling/fixtures, vendor selectionPlans and executes validation testing with flight test and other engineering teamsMentors and typically directly manages junior engineersMust haveBS in Mechanical Engineering or related8+ years in fast-paced engineering/manufacturing environmentsStrong first-principles problem solvingCAD proficiency (SolidWorks, NX, or similar)Nice to haveEngineering team leadershipAerial/unmanned systems experience (professional or hobbyist)High-volume, cost-sensitive industry background (consumer electronics, automotive)Broad manufacturing process knowledge; PCBA/battery/RF packaging and integrationFamiliarity with BLDC motors, optical sensors; harsh-environment designAnalysis SME (structural, vibration, thermal, CFD)PDM systems (Teamcenter or similar); hands-on fabrication skills (machining, welding, CNC)
