Lead Microsoft Fabric / Data Architect

We are seeking a strategic Data Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric to lead and unify our data modernization initiatives. In this role, you will act as an architectural integrator, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution across multiple data teams. You will not be expected to be a hands-on software developer writing production code; rather, your focus will be on providing cross-team leadership, architectural governance, and strategic oversight to ensure cohesion as we modernize and rationalize our existing data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Integration & Governance: Provide overarching leadership and architectural direction to connect disparate data modernization components and teams, ensuring consistency and cross-team alignment. Fabric-Centric Design: Lead the design and implementation strategies utilizing Microsoft Fabric (including OneLake and modern data movement patterns), which will comprise approximately 50% of the role's focus. Platform Modernization: Focus on rationalizing current architecture and migrating/standardizing data flows, rather than purely greenfield, net-new design. Deliverable Creation: Produce critical architectural documentation, including Architecture Review Artifacts (current/target states, technology recommendations) and Low-Level Solution Designs (detailed diagrams and component-level designs). Troubleshooting & Guidance: Provide high-level troubleshooting and technical guidance to execution teams without getting bogged down in building the production solutions yourself. Required Qualifications & Profile: Core Technology: Extensive, hands-on architectural experience with Microsoft Fabric (mandatory). Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical execution teams. Experience Level: Strong background in data modernization, migration, and standardizing existing architectures. Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of SQL and scripting (sufficient for troubleshooting and architectural oversight, not production development). Expert-level Azure knowledge is highly beneficial, though not strictly required. Note: This is a strategic oversight and architecture role. Prefer candidates with hands on Microsoft Fabric architecture experience
