Applicants must already hold a valid visa or work permit for their country of residence, as Hilo is not able to provide visa sponsorship.Role OverviewUX is our number one priority, and we need a design leader who consistently turns design into business outcomes. As Lead Product Designer, you set the quality bar for our app, own our design system and drive our biggest product bets from first idea to shipped result. You are hands-on: you prototype, you craft, you ship.You will report directly to our Head of Design and work with product and engineering every day. You will be the design partner who keeps the whole product consistent and high quality, together with our Lead UX Writer and a Senior Product Designer.You will have real ownership on a health product people use every day, in a business-critical, high-visibility role where UX is our top priority. You join a team with high talent density, people who raise your game, and a shared focus on speed, clarity and craft.
Support, coach and unblock other designers, and give clear feedbackChallenge product and engineering with evidence, persuade stakeholders and make clear, documented decisionsWork daily with product managers and design engineersRequirementsBackground & ExperienceEssentialProven design leadership, with a track record of consistently delivering strong business outcomes2 to 3 shipped case studies that demonstrate high impact: the problem, your hypothesis, your decisions, the measured resultOutstanding visual design craft: hierarchy, typography, motion and attention to detailHigh-fidelity prototypes and videos of your work, ideally built with AI tools such as Claude or LovableDaily, practical use of AI tools and experience with AI-ready design systemsFluent Figma, including components, variables and tokensStrong product thinking: you work with data, hypotheses and measurementsIdeally health, consumer, behavior change or regulated productsA public portfolio website (required with your application)Nice to HaveMobile apps, connected devices, simple prototypes in codeHow you workAI first — You are already playing with AI tools and you are excited about what they make possibleBuilder — You ship, and you can spin up something from nothingBias for action — You are autonomous and self-sufficient.
