Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are looking for an exceptional Lead Sleepwear Designer to take creative ownership of a major women’s sleepwear collection for an iconic, nationally recognized American heritage brand.This is not a maintenance design role.We are looking for someone who can reimagine, modernize, and build a sleepwear business—bringing a fresh fashion perspective to an established brand while creating product that is highly commercial and relevant to today’s consumer.The right designer understands that great sleepwear today goes beyond basic pajamas. It sits at the intersection of fashion, comfort, femininity, lifestyle, and lounge.WHAT YOU’LL OWNYou will lead the creative vision and seasonal development of the collection across:Pajama setsNightgowns & chemisesRobesLounge setsSleep shirtsSoft separatesFashion sleepwearSeasonal & gifting collectionsYou’ll develop the line from concept through production, including trend direction, silhouettes, prints, color, fabrics, trims, CADs, presentations, sampling, and final execution.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWe want a designer with a strong point of view.Someone who follows fashion, retail, social media, color, print and lifestyle trends—and knows how to translate those influences into product that can actually sell.You should be equally comfortable creating a beautiful trend presentation, designing a new silhouette, directing a print, reviewing a factory sample, and sitting with merchandising and sales to determine how the assortment should be built.You must understand the difference between simply creating attractive product and building a commercially successful collection.RESPONSIBILITIESEstablish the seasonal creative direction for the sleepwear collectionResearch global fashion, sleepwear, lounge and lifestyle trendsCreate compelling trend and concept boardsDevelop original prints, graphics, color palettes and seasonal storiesDesign commercially relevant silhouettes with strong hanger and visual appealCreate detailed CADs and technical packagesSource and develop fabrics, trims, treatments and detailsWork closely with overseas factories from initial development through productionConduct competitive retail and online market researchPartner with merchandising and sales to identify white-space opportunitiesUnderstand different retail channels and design product accordinglyReview samples for design, fit, construction and overall executionPresent collections internally and to senior brand/licensing partnersHelp define the long-term creative identity of the sleepwear businessYOU SHOULD HAVE7+ years of women’s apparel design experience, ideally within sleepwear, loungewear, intimates or a closely related category.Strong experience in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required, along with excellent CAD, print, color and presentation skills.You should have experience working directly with overseas factories and understand the realities of costing, margin, construction and production.Experience designing for major national retailers, department stores, off-price retailers, specialty stores or e-commerce is highly valued.Most importantly, we want someone who has taste, commercial instinct and energy—a designer who sees an opportunity and immediately starts thinking about how to make the product better.WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENTYou will have the opportunity to help relaunch and redefine the sleepwear vision of an established American heritage brand with significant consumer recognition and distribution potential.We are not looking to recreate what the brand did yesterday.We want to respect its heritage while creating what it should look like tomorrow.This is an opportunity for the right designer to put their fingerprint on a significant new sleepwear business and help build it from the ground up.Brand identity will remain confidential during the initial application process and will be disclosed to qualified candidates.TO APPLYPlease submit your resume and portfolio.Portfolios should demonstrate strong work in sleepwear, loungewear, intimates or women’s apparel and ideally include CADs, prints, trend direction, color stories and finished product.Portfolio submission is required for consideration.
