Own technical execution from architecture through release and production support, ensuring strong engineering standards, predictable delivery and responsible use of modern AI-assisted development tools.ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Delivery Lead technical planning, prioritisation and day-to-day execution; allocate work, remove blockers and escalate risks early.Mentor engineers and ensure realistic commitments, clear ownership and reliable delivery.Translate product requirements into implementable engineering work, setting the technical approach and breaking work down so that others can pick it up and deliver it.Architecture & Quality Own solution design and key technical decisions, selecting fit-for-purpose technologies based on scalability, security, operability, cost and maintainability.Review critical code and enforce coding, testing, documentation and release standards; actively manage technical debt and obsolete dependencies.Act as the integration and release gate: manage release branches, hotfixes and conflict resolution, and hold the standard for what reaches production.Transactional Integrity & Financial Correctness Own correctness in systems that move money: idempotency, precise decimal handling, reconciliation, and an auditable trail behind every balance change.Lead investigation and remediation where production issues affect customer balances or payouts, from root cause through corrective action to verified closure.AI-Assisted Engineering Use and govern approved AI coding assistants/agents with mandatory human review, testing, confidentiality and security controls.Where relevant, guide LLM/API, RAG, vector search, tool-calling/MCP and agentic integrations, including evaluation, guardrails, observability and cost control.Cloud, DevSecOps & Reliability Guide cloud-native delivery, containers/Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD automation.Embed secure SDLC controls including dependency/secrets scanning, SAST/DAST/SCA, SBOM and least-privilege access.Ensure effective logs, metrics, traces and alerting; lead incident response, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.Application, API & Data Engineering Provide hands-on guidance across modern frontend/backend development, APIs, integrations, event-driven patterns and data persistence.Ensure performance, resilience, secure authentication/authorisation and appropriate database/cache/search design.Deliver both customer-facing applications and the internal admin and back-office consoles used to operate them.Own the data model across relational and document stores, including schema design, indexing strategy, and the authoring and review of migrations that run against live data.Ensure query and transaction performance at production scale, including profiling, index design, and diagnosis of database load and contention.Plan and execute data migrations, backfills and corrective data operations safely, with verification before and after, and ensure data integrity, retention and recoverability requirements are met in coordination with Infrastructure.Device / Firmware Operations Coordinate firmware/OTA releases, vendor updates, device compatibility, RMA/serial-number changes and technical issue resolution where applicable.Collaboration & Governance Work closely with Project Manager, Product, QA, Infrastructure/Security, Data and Management; manage technical vendors and support capacity/tooling planning.Maintain essential architecture, API and runbook documentation and comply with company security, confidentiality and change-management requirements. QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent relevant professional experience.Experience 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years in technical leadership or equivalent ownership roles.Proven delivery of production-grade applications/services across the full SDLC, including architecture, code review, release and production support.Strong practical experience with cloud, CI/CD, DevOps/DevSecOps and AI-assisted engineering workflows.Experience with firmware/OTA or connected-device operations where relevant to the assigned product.Experience in a small team where the same engineer designs, builds, reviews and then supports what they shipped.Prior work in a financially sensitive or regulated environment is a significant advantage. Required SkillsCore Technical Skills Frontend: TypeScript/JavaScript with React/Next.js, Angular or equivalent modern framework. In this environment: React with the Next.js App Router and Vite, Tailwind CSS, component libraries from the shadcn/ui, Radix, MUI or Ant Design families, TanStack Query with Redux Toolkit/RTK Query or Zustand, react-hook-form with Zod, Socket.IO, Recharts and i18next. Experience building admin and back-office interfaces, with Refine or comparable, is an advantage.Backend: Node.js/NestJS, Java/Spring Boot, .NET or equivalent enterprise stack. In this environment: TypeScript with NestJS, applied to substantial modular codebases, and consumption of generated OpenAPI clients.Architecture & integration: APIs, distributed/event-driven patterns, authentication, resilience and third-party integrations.
