Lead Full Stack Software EngineerChicago, IL | HybridA well-established law firm is expanding its software engineering team and is looking for a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to help build and modernize enterprise applications.This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on software development, architecture, mentoring, and technical planning. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders on initiatives involving cloud applications, AI, workflow automation, and enterprise software modernization.ResponsibilitiesBuild and architect production-grade full stack applicationsProvide technical leadership, mentoring, and engineering guidanceConduct code and design reviews and establish development standardsLead technical planning, solution design, and proof-of-conceptsDesign APIs, microservices, and distributed applicationsBuild and modernize applications within Microsoft AzurePartner with product and business teams to develop scalable solutionsCurrent ProjectsEnterprise workflow automation across billing, invoicing, HR, M&A, and pitch/pricing processesAI-powered litigation applicationsModernization of internally developed applications into enterprise-grade softwareContinued development of cloud-based enterprise applicationsRequired Experience8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2–3+ years in a technical leadership capacityCurrent or recent Lead Software Engineer experience preferred; strong Senior Engineers with leadership responsibilities consideredStrong hands-on full stack development experienceC# / .NET and React or Next.jsProduction experience building applications in Microsoft Azure from the ground upExperience with Azure services such as App Service, Container Apps/AKS, Azure SQL, Service Bus, and/or Azure OpenAIStrong system design and cloud architecture experienceREST and/or GraphQL APIs, microservices, and distributed applicationsSQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, or similar databasesCI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platformsExperience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and contributing to architecture and technical planningNice to HaveWorkflow automation platforms such as n8n or TemporalAI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or CodexEnterprise software development experienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
