Department: School of Digital and Cinematic Art (SDCA) Institution: Institute for Art & Culture (IAC), Lahore Position Title: Lecturer – Animation Reporting To: Head of Department / Dean Employment Type: Full-Time1.

Job PurposeTo deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in animation, develop students' creative and technical skills, and contribute to curriculum development, academic assessment, student mentoring, and departmental activities. The Lecturer will prepare students for professional careers in 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, character animation, and related digital media industries.2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Teaching and Academic ResponsibilitiesDeliver lectures, studio sessions, practical demonstrations, and workshops in animation and related disciplines.Teach subjects such as 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Character Animation, Storyboarding, Motion Graphics, Visual Storytelling, and Animation Principles.Develop lesson plans, course outlines, teaching materials, and practical assignments aligned with approved curriculum and academic standards.Integrate industry practices, emerging technologies, and contemporary animation techniques into teaching.Guide students in developing animation projects, showreels, portfolios, and final-year projects.Promote creativity, critical thinking, visual communication, and problem-solving skills among students.B. Technical and Creative ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate proficiency in relevant animation software, such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, or equivalent industry-standard tools.Teach animation fundamentals, including timing, spacing, squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, and character movement.Guide students in character design, rigging, modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering, compositing, and post-production, according to specialization.Supervise the development of 2D and 3D animation projects, short films, motion graphics, and digital storytelling assignments.Encourage experimentation with new animation workflows, digital production tools, and AI-assisted creative technologies where academically appropriate.C. Assessment and Student DevelopmentDesign assignments, quizzes, practical examinations, presentations, and project-based assessments.Evaluate student performance fairly and provide constructive feedback on creative and technical work.Maintain accurate attendance, assessment records, grades, and other academic documentation.Mentor students in project development, portfolio building, professional presentation, and career preparation.Identify students requiring additional academic support and provide appropriate guidance.D. Curriculum Development and ResearchContribute to curriculum review and development in accordance with institutional policies and relevant academic requirements.Conduct research, creative practice, and professional development activities in animation, digital arts, and related fields.Encourage student participation in exhibitions, animation festivals, competitions, workshops, and industry projects.Keep course content updated with developments in animation technology, production pipelines, and industry standards.E. Departmental and Institutional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in faculty meetings, academic committees, examinations, admissions activities, and departmental events.Collaborate with faculty members on interdisciplinary projects involving film, visual effects, game design, graphic design, and digital media.Support departmental quality assurance, accreditation, and academic reporting requirements.Perform other academic responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department, Dean, or authorized university management.3. Required QualificationA relevant Master's degree (MS/MPhil or equivalent) in Animation, Computer Animation, Digital Media, Film and Animation, Visual Effects, Multimedia Arts, or a closely related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution or an appropriately recognized foreign university.The qualification must meet the institution's applicable faculty appointment criteria and relevant HEC requirements.4. Required ExperienceRelevant teaching experience at a university, college, or recognized higher education institution is preferred.Professional experience in animation production, digital content creation, visual effects, or a related creative industry will be an advantage.Demonstrated experience in supervising student projects or producing animation work is desirable.5. Required Skills and CompetenciesStrong knowledge of animation principles and production workflows.Practical proficiency in relevant 2D or 3D animation software.Strong artistic, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving abilities.Effective teaching, presentation, communication, and student mentoring skills.Ability to design practical assignments and assess creative work objectively.Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet academic deadlines.Willingness to collaborate with faculty and contribute to departmental development.6. Preferred Qualifications and AttributesA strong professional portfolio or animation showreel demonstrating relevant expertise.Industry certifications, professional training, publications, or recognized creative projects.Experience with game animation, character rigging, motion capture, visual effects, or real-time animation tools.Familiarity with digital production pipelines and interdisciplinary media projects.7. Performance ExpectationsThe successful candidate will be expected to:Deliver assigned courses in accordance with approved academic plans.Maintain high standards of teaching quality and student engagement.Ensure timely assessment and submission of academic records.Support student project completion and portfolio development.Contribute to curriculum enhancement
