Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Forensic Biology

The Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer will prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions, using inclusive and evidence-based teaching methods. The role includes supervising student projects and dissertations, providing academic advising and pastoral support, and giving constructive feedback on coursework and examinations. The post holder will engage in scholarship and research activity relevant to forensic biology, contribute to module and programme administration, participate in quality assurance processes, and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enhance the student experience and strengthen industry and professional links.Qualifications Strong foundation in forensic biology or a closely related discipline, supported by a relevant degree (normally at least a master’s level; a PhD or progress toward one is highly desirable).Proficiency in delivering lectures, seminars, and laboratory-based teaching, with the ability to design clear learning outcomes and appropriate assessments.Experience or training in inclusive pedagogy, student-centered learning, and supporting diverse learners within higher education.Applied knowledge of forensic laboratory techniques, evidence handling, and quality assurance standards relevant to forensic practice.Ability to undertake research or scholarly activity in forensic biology, including literature review, data analysis, and dissemination of findings.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex scientific information in an accessible way.Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to balance teaching, administrative duties, and research or scholarship.Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary academic teams and with external stakeholders such as practitioners and professional bodies.Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to creating a supportive learning environment for students from a wide range of backgrounds.Familiarity with digital learning tools and virtual learning environments, and confidence in using technology to enhance teaching and student engagement.
