Job Title: Lecturer – Fashion Media and MarketingReports to: Programme Leader

Location: LondonSalary Range: £45,000Hours: FT – Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm (with one potential late start to teach evening classes as per business need)OverviewAs a Lecturer at the Victoria College of Arts & Design, you will play a key role in delivering, maintaining, and continuously enhancing the high standards of teaching, mentoring, and academic support that we aim to provide for our students.

This is an opportunity to work with a creative and dynamic team, contributing to the development and shaping of our creative programmes to inspire the next generation of fashion creatives.The role will focus on Fashion Media and Marketing, supporting students in developing knowledge and practical skills across areas such as fashion communication, branding, visual storytelling, digital content creation, social media, marketing, and strategic communication. You will guide learners in understanding how fashion operates within cultural, digital, and commercial contexts, encouraging critical thinking around audience engagement, consumer behaviour, trend analysis, fashion promotion, and ethical practice. You will support students in translating creative concepts into effective and professionally presented media and marketing outputs, helping them develop their ability to communicate fashion concepts to contemporary audiences across a range of platforms. You will also encourage students to explore current industry practices, emerging digital technologies, and evolving approaches to fashion media and marketing, ensuring their learning remains relevant to contemporary creative industries.We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and mentoring, with relevant knowledge and professional experience in Fashion Media and Marketing, and who is dedicated to supporting student development and success across our creative programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Unit Delivery:Plan, develop, and deliver high-quality, student-centred lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops for assigned units.Utilise a range of teaching methods to support different learning styles, fostering engagement and inclusivity.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Fashion Media and Marketing, ensuring course content reflects contemporary industry practice.Support students in developing practical and theoretical knowledge across fashion communication, branding, marketing, digital media and content creation.Assessment and Feedback:Design, manage and assess formative and summative coursework assignments, ensuring fairness, transparency and relevance.Provide constructive and timely feedback to support students' academic progress and development.Ensure grading and feedback align with best practice and standards across the English Higher Education sector.Student Support and Guidance:Act as an academic advisor and mentor, providing guidance on academic matters and professional aspirations.Participate in student engagement activities and additional learning and academic support sessions.Address individual student needs and refer students to appropriate support services where necessary.Support students in developing professional practice and preparing for careers within fashion media, marketing and the wider creative industries.Curriculum and Unit Development:Work collaboratively with faculty, management, students and external stakeholders to develop and enhance curricula in line with contemporary Fashion Media and Marketing industry and academic trends.Develop and update teaching resources, including reading lists, case studies, practical exercises and online learning content.Contribute to curriculum review and the development of new and revised programmes.Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:Adhere to VCAD and Partner institution policies, procedures and quality assurance standards.Engage in peer review, teaching observation and evaluation processes to support continuous improvement.Contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning through student feedback and industry developments.Professional Development:Participate in professional development activities and keep up to date with developments in Fashion Media and Marketing, higher education teaching and learning, and relevant regulatory requirements.Administrative and Departmental ResponsibilitiesUndertake administrative duties related to teaching, timetable management, unit coordination, course management, marking, grading and departmental meetings.Contribute to open days, student recruitment, induction events, knowledge transfer and other outreach activities.Support VCAD initiatives including diversity and inclusion, digital learning and community collaboration.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:A Bachelor’s Degree.Relevant knowledge and professional experience in Fashion Media, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Communication or a related creative discipline.Confidence and ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a class of students.Ability to utilise a range of digital platforms, particularly Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.Enthusiasm, knowledge and experience within your specialist area.Experience of teaching, tutoring, mentoring or supporting students in an educational or creative learning environment.Desirable:Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro.Working knowledge of photography studio practices and digital content production.Relevant professional experience within the fashion, media, marketing or creative industries.Knowledge of the Higher Education sector in England.A Master’s Degree.BenefitsAnnual leave (7.2 weeks)Workplace pension scheme.Company Sick Pay.Statutory maternity and paternity pay.Employee Assistance Programme (HA Wisdom Wellbeing)Virtual GP access (Livi)'Speak Up Service' - confidential support service to report any workplace concernsSpecialist physical and mental wellbeing support services with 24/7 confidential counselling support (Wisdom)Specialist menopause support, including online CBT (Wisdom)Financial, legal and medical advice services provided (Wisdom)Life & Leadership coaching (Wisdom)Financial coaching (MUNNY)Discounts and perks, offering savings on shopping, activities and more (Bright Exchange)Career development and training opportunities.Training and self-development opportunities.
