The School of Game Design and Development runs a 3-year degree program that trains designers, developers and artists for the games industry.We are looking for a lecturer to teach Experience Design — the craft of game feel — so students learn why some games feel great to play, and how to make theirs feel that way too.The RoleThe lecturer joins the Game Design and Development department faculty.The Experience Design Lecturer teaches students how to make games feel responsive, satisfying and immersive: from input handling and camera work to juice, feedback and polish. The course mixes a hands-on approach with a strong theoretical foundation, teaching techniques and pipelines and applying them to students' own prototypes and projects.ResponsibilitiesTeach the Experience Design course: lectures, live demos and in-class tuning workshopsDevelop and update the syllabus, assignments, example projects and grading rubricsGuide student teams as they polish the feel of their year and final projectsReview student builds and give concrete feedback on responsiveness, feedback and feelAdapt exercises so Art, Dev and Game Design students each contribute from their own disciplineBring in industry guests where possibleAssess students and submit grades by the college's standardsWhat the course coversThe course takes students from "it works" to "it feels great".Foundations of game feel: what makes controls feel tight, heavy, floaty or responsive, and how to talk about itInput and responsiveness: input latency, input buffering, coyote time, jump grace, dead zones and response curvesMovement and physics tuning: acceleration, friction, jump arcs, variable jump height, custom gravityJuice and feedback: screen shake, hit-stop, squash and stretch, particles, flashes and knockbackCamera: follow, look-ahead, damping, framing and camera shake done rightAnimation and timing: anticipation, follow-through, easing curves and tweeningAudio feedback: layering, pitch variation and syncing sound with actionUI and moment-to-moment feedback: diegetic UI, damage numbers, readable hits and pickupsImmersion and flow: consistency, pacing, rhythm and avoiding feedback overloadPolish pipeline: tuning variables, iteration loops, playtesting feel, and knowing when to stopExperience across platforms: VR, mobile, etc.RequirementsAt least 3 years of hands-on industry experience as a game designer, gameplay programmer or technical designer, with a focus on game feelShipped titles (free games included), or a portfolio showing controls, feedback and polish you designed or implementedDeep practical knowledge of input handling (buffering, latency, coyote time) and juice techniquesHands-on experience tuning feel in Unity or UnrealStrong presentation skills and the ability to demonstrate techniques liveGood professional EnglishAdvantagesTeaching or mentoring experience, in academia, bootcamps or in-studio trainingExperience across genres: action, platformers, shooters, fighting or racing gamesBackground in PC games and/or consolesExperience with VR comfort and presenceSkills in VFX, animation or game audioPublished talks, articles or devlogs on game feel (e.g. GDC)Bachelor's degree in game design, computer science, animation or a related fieldMaster's degree or higher in a relevant fieldHebrew speakerTermsPosition: part-time lecturer (hourly)Weekly hours: 3 academic hours per weekSchedule: flexible teaching day, evening hours (between 16:45–21:20)Students: Game Design students with the possiblity of Game Dev & 3D Art students
