Faculty members benefit from access to international collaborations, contemporary teaching facilities, and a focus on innovation in teaching and learning.Role Description The Lecturer in Graphic Design is a full-time, on-site role based at Curtin University Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves delivering lectures, tutorials, and studio-based classes in graphic design and related subjects, ensuring alignment with Curtin’s curriculum and learning outcomes. The lecturer will deliver course materials, briefs, and assessments; supervise student projects and portfolios; and provide regular feedback and academic support to learners. Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring students, participating in moderation and grading processes, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement, and engaging in scholarly and professional development activities. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, contributing to school initiatives, and participating in outreach or industry engagement that supports student employability and the growth of the graphic design program.QualificationsStrong foundation in graphic design principles, visual communication, and contemporary design practices, supported by a relevant academic qualification (a master’s degree or higher in Graphic Design).Demonstrated experience in teaching or facilitating design education at tertiary level, including designing learning activities, assessing student work, and using student-centered teaching methods.Proficiency with industry-standard design tools and technologies (such as Adobe Creative Cloud and other digital design platforms), and the ability to integrate these tools into teaching and student projects.Evidence of professional practice, research, or creative work in graphic design, including a strong portfolio and engagement with current trends in design and visual culture.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach and support a diverse student population and work effectively within a multicultural academic environment.Organizational and time-management skills to handle teaching loads, assessment deadlines, and administrative responsibilities associated with academic programs.Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teaching practices and continuous improvement in pedagogy, including the use of technology-enhanced learning and innovative assessment methods.
