Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support a prominent law firm in Troy, Michigan. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a law firm environment, manages priorities independently, and produces accurate work under deadline pressure. The right candidate brings strong communication skills, solid judgment, and a highly organized approach to litigation support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and finalize litigation documents for filing, service, and internal use while ensuring accuracy in formatting and content.
- Coordinate electronic submissions with state courts and related agencies, tracking confirmations and resolving filing issues as needed.
- Maintain case calendars by monitoring court dates, response deadlines, and other critical milestones to help keep matters on schedule.
- Organize and update physical and electronic case files so records remain complete, accessible, and audit-ready.
- Support attorneys with case-related correspondence, document management, and day-to-day administrative tasks tied to active litigation matters.
- Review incoming materials and route information promptly, following up on pending items to help prevent missed deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation of court-ready materials, including exhibits, pleadings, and other litigation support documents.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, court personnel, clients, and outside parties regarding filings, scheduling, and document status.
- Minimum of 3 years supporting litigation matters, with hands-on experience in civil litigation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of court filing procedures, including electronic filing with state courts.
- Proven ability to prepare, format, and submit legal documents accurately and efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable using legal technology and standard office software in a fast-paced practice setting.
