Joining the firm offers the opportunity to build legal support experience within a respected local practice.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in Battle Creek, MI. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys by preparing and organizing legal documents, maintaining case files, and managing calendars and deadlines. Daily responsibilities include drafting correspondence, formatting pleadings and other filings, and coordinating document execution and filing with courts and agencies. The role also involves handling administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and organizing meetings. The Legal Assistant will work closely with attorneys and other staff to ensure efficient case management and responsive client service.Qualifications Strong knowledge of law-related concepts and familiarity with legal processes and terminology.Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.Excellent communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, courts, and external partners.Experience with administrative assistance, including scheduling, file management, data entry, and general office support.Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role.Comfort using office and legal software (word processing, document management, case management systems).Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.Associate’s degree, paralegal or legal assistant certificate, or equivalent experience in a law office environment preferred.
