Legal Compliance Officer

🚀 What you will be doingThink of data privacy, regulatory compliance, ethics, integrity, and commercial law. As a Legal & Compliance Officer, you will play an active role in promoting and monitoring compliance with applicable laws and regulations (payment services, GDPR, AML/KYC) as well as internal policies, directly helping to protect NETOPIA’s brand and reputation.You will work in a flexible, fast-paced, and mentally stimulating hybrid setup, offering legal and compliance guidance with a high degree of autonomy.👉 Your responsibilities will include:Legal & Compliance Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to business partners and internal teams by providing pragmatic advice and solutions to their legal, data protection, and compliance queries.Contracts & Corporate Documents: Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, legal opinions, corporate resolutions, and FinTech/payment-related documentation.Data Privacy & Regulatory Compliance: Proactively monitor compliance with GDPR, Anti-Money Laundering (AML/KYC) rules, payment network guidelines, and financial industry regulations.Risk Management & Reporting: Evaluate legal and compliance risks, assist in preparing reports and presentations for Management/Board level, and propose internal policy updates based on legislative changes.Public Authorities & Dispute Resolution: Assist in handling customer complaints, draft official responses or appeals against administrative acts/penalties, and represent or support the company in relations with public authorities and external partners.Training & Internal Audits: Assist in delivering training programs to operational teams and conducting internal reviews to ensure full regulatory alignment.👉 The ideal candidate must have:Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (a Master’s degree is considered a plus).Experience: 4–5 years of professional legal experience (legal counsel or lawyer), preferably within banking, payment services, or the FinTech sector.Specialized Knowledge: Solid background in corporate law, commercial law, payment services regulations, GDPR, and compliance frameworks (AML/KYC).Language Skills: Professional fluency in English (both technical and business vocabulary).Technical Proficiency: Advanced use of MS Office / Google Workspace, PDF editors, and legal search tools.Soft Skills & Mindset: Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail, excellent time management, decision-oriented attitude, ability to work independently, and willingness to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.👉 What do we offer:Competitive Remuneration: Competitive salary package tailored to your experience and demonstrated competencies.Performance & Annual Bonuses: Annual performance bonus aligned with project targets + Christmas bonus.Continuous Learning & Development: Dedicated budget for tooling, conferences, and ongoing learning opportunities.Time Off & Special Days: Minimum 21 days of paid annual leave + 1 extra paid day off for your birthday + birthday bonus.Flexible Benefits & Health Package: Flexible monthly benefits budget (BenefitSystems, Bookster, etc.) and Partner Premium health insurance (Regina Maria).Hybrid Work Model: 3 days at the office & 2 days working from home per week (applies after the first month 5/5 of the trial period).Work Environment: A high-performance team with over 20 years of proven expertise in the Romanian online payment industry.About usAs Romania's online payment market leader for over 20 years, NETOPIA Payments has evolved into a complete One-Stop-Shop financial ecosystem for merchants.
