The business has raised over $1bn in capital and is entering a major phase of growth as it moves from R&D and prototype development towards large-scale manufacturing and commercial deployment.The company has grown to over 150 employees, bringing together engineers and operators from some of the world’s leading aerospace, defense, energy and technology organizations.Their technology is designed to provide reliable, high-density, grid-independent power, with potential applications across AI and data center infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, critical US energy infrastructure, defense and national security. The business is vertically integrating technology development, manufacturing and operations as it builds out a significant physical infrastructure footprint.Backed by leading Deeptech and technology investors, the company is now scaling rapidly across manufacturing, infrastructure development and commercial operations, creating an increasingly broad range of legal requirements across major contracts, financing, regulation, government relationships and corporate matters.The Role:As the business continues to scale, they are looking for a Legal Counsel to join the internal Legal team and work closely with senior leadership across a wide range of commercial and corporate matters. The role will have particular exposure to complex commercial agreements, infrastructure development and financing, alongside the broader legal requirements of a rapidly growing technology business.This is a broad, highly commercial position for an attorney who wants meaningful ownership rather than a narrowly defined legal remit. You will partner closely with Finance, Operations, Engineering, People and commercial teams, working on transactions and projects that sit at the intersection of technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and government.

Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including supplier, vendor, construction, technology and confidentiality agreements.Support complex infrastructure and project-related transactions, including financing arrangements, construction agreements and other contracts required to develop and deploy large-scale projects.Partner with senior business leaders on commercial negotiations, contract strategy and legal risk, providing practical advice that enables the business to move quickly.Support corporate transactions and financing activity, including venture financings, equity-related matters and other strategic transactions.Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to a highly regulated advanced energy and infrastructure business, working with specialist external counsel where appropriate.Support government contracting, federal program requirements and other matters arising from relationships with public-sector customers and agencies.Provide legal support across corporate governance, entity management, intellectual property, confidentiality and employment-related matters.Help build scalable legal processes, contract workflows and internal policies as the organization grows.Manage and coordinate external counsel across specialist matters while taking increasing ownership of legal work internally.What We Need:3-6 years of legal experience with strong exposure to commercial contracts and transactional matters, ideally gained at a leading law firm and/or high-growth business.Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admission to the California State Bar, or eligibility to register as in-house counsel in California.Strong drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to independently manage increasingly complex commercial agreements.Commercial judgement and the ability to turn complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders.Comfort operating in a fast-paced, highly technical environment with significant autonomy and changing priorities.What We’d Love to See (Non-Essential):Background at a leading law firm working across infrastructure, energy, project finance, construction, M&A or other complex transactions.Experience with project finance, infrastructure development, construction or EPC-related agreements.Experience within advanced energy, aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing or another regulated, hardware-heavy industry.Previous in-house experience within a VC-backed or rapidly scaling technology business.Exposure to government contracting, federal regulatory matters, export controls or working with government agencies.Salary: $220,000 to $260,000 + significant equityStart Date: ASAPLocation: LA (office based)
