Legal Counsel – Construction, Projects & Procurement | Abu DhabiUp to AED 40,000 per month + schooling allowance, bonus and annual flightsI am currently supporting a leading UAE real estate developer with the appointment of a Legal Counsel specialising in construction, projects and procurement matters.This is a broad, hands-on in-house position supporting the Legal Director, General Counsel and wider legal team across the company’s day-to-day legal affairs.The role will involve:• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction and procurement contracts involving contractors, consultants, suppliers and commercial partners• Advising project managers, procurement leads and business units on project delivery, contract administration and procurement strategy• Providing practical and commercially focused legal advice throughout the project lifecycle• Managing construction-related disputes, alternative dispute resolution, litigation and settlement matters• Coordinating external legal counsel and ensuring the cost-effective delivery of high-quality advice• Identifying contractual and legal risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies• Representing the legal function at project steering committees, risk panels and cross-functional working groups• Developing standard contracts, templates, legal guidance notes and internal playbooks• Delivering training to project, procurement and wider business teams• Supporting and supervising junior members of the legal departmentWe are open to candidates currently working within:• A Tier 1 construction or contracting company• A recognised real estate development company• An international or reputable law firm handling construction-related matters and disputesCandidate requirements:• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification• Current bar membership or relevant professional legal admission• A minimum of four years’ relevant legal experience• Strong construction, projects and procurement experience• Previous private-practice experience with an international law firm or reputable equivalent is essential• Experience drafting and negotiating contracts with consultants, contractors and suppliers• Exposure to both contentious and non-contentious construction matters• Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder-management skills• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishThis opportunity would suit a commercially minded construction lawyer seeking a broad in-house position with direct exposure to major real estate development projects.For a confidential discussion, please contact me directly or send your CV to scott.d@sphererecruit.com.
