We are working with a fundraising advisor to the private markets, which since inception has advised on primary fundraisings and secondaries for its first-class client base.The firm is known for its specialist expertise in Private Equity, Private Credit and Climate & Impact.Role OverviewThey are looking for an enthusiastic, diligent, and hardworking Legal Counsel to join their London office within their Legal & Compliance team.Working alongside the General Counsel and Compliance Manager in a team of three, the role will encompass all aspects of legal support for the global business across five operating countries.The ideal candidate will have a naturally high attention to detail and approach all interactions (both internal and external) with professionalism, maturity, and a commercial can-do attitude.LOCATION: LondonCOMPENSATION: Competitive salary and bonus schemeREPORTING TO: General Counsel and Chief Compliance OfficerKey ResponsibilitiesThe role will have a wide-ranging mandate, assisting the General Counsel on delivery of full legal support across the global business.Some of the key responsibilities include the following:Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating client / GP engagement letters, NDAs, commercial contracts, supplier contracts, intercompany agreements, leases, and employment-related agreementsProviding legal support for corporate activitiesProviding legal advice in connection with fund marketingEngaging with external litigation counsel on the rare dispute – briefing, monitoring progress, reporting internallyProviding legal support to the HR team on employee relations mattersProviding legal support in connection with their investment platform, including fund subscriptions, structuring, and documentationSupporting the General Counsel with group company secretarial activities, including attendance at board and committee meetingsProviding legal support on risk and governance matters across the groupAd hoc legal research and input to support the General CounselDevelopment and maintenance of legal precedents and templatesSupporting and delivering legal training (induction, regular training sessions for the business, etc)Key competenciesClear desire to work in-house in a wide ranging, challenging and varied roleFast learner with ability to demonstrate initiativeTrust and integrity essential to the roleStrong contract drafting and negotiation skills, practical and business-focusedRigorous attention to detailGood judgment on escalationComfortable working autonomously and as part of a small team, across seniority levelsExcellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectivelyProfessional, confident, articulateNatural curiosity to learn new thingsAbility to work with external counsel, analyse advice and make internal recommendations / decisions in a commercial wayGenuine interest in private markets/private equityExperienceQualified lawyer in England & Wales or New York3–5 PQE (indicative only)Background either in private practice (funds, financial services regulatory or private equity experience preferred) or in-house at a financial services firmHalliford PartnersWe will review all applications within 10 days.
