Legal Counsel

This is a chance to join an established international oil and gas business in Dubai, part of a global energy group, as Legal Counsel reporting to the General Counsel.It's a varied, hands-on role with real responsibility. You'll work closely with the business, advise on a wide range of commercial and operational matters, and help develop the in-house legal function as the company grows.What you'll be doing:Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreementsGiving practical legal advice across all areas of the businessAssessing risk on new, complex or non-standard projects and finding commercial ways forwardSupporting new entities and strategic transactionsDeveloping standard-form documents and templatesSpotting regulatory and compliance risks and helping to shape the policies that manage themSupporting disputes, arbitrations and claims, and helping to manage the litigation portfolioAdvising on corporate governance, board matters and shareholder issuesWhat you'll bring:A law degree, and admission in a common law jurisdiction5+ years in private practice or in-house, with experience in the oil and gas or energy sectorA strong grasp of English law and a commercial, practical way of applying itThe ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working independently and as part of a small teamExcellent written and spoken English and a sharp eye for detailYou'll need to be based in the UAE
