We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking work environment where your expertise will be valued and your contributions will make a difference.The Role:We are looking for a Legal Counsel with a strong commercial mindset, attention to detail and interest in regulatory and compliance matters to join our Dusseldorf team.You will support Rakuten Symphony’s business in Germany across a broad range of commercial legal and regulatory matters, supporting our key customer accounts.Working with business and functional teams in Germany, Japan and globally, you will translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical solutions.You will independently draft, review and negotiate commercial and IT agreements and other related legal documents, and advise on vendor relationships.You will also monitor and support the implementation of legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in IT, information security, cybersecurity and telecommunications.This role offers broad experience across technology, commercial law and regulatory compliance in an international organization.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate commercial and IT agreements, including services, licensing, supply and other business contracts.Independently prepare and manage contracts and other legal documents, including amendments, Statements of Work, Contract Change Notices and related documentation for key customer accounts.Provide legal support in vendor relationships, including review of vendor documentation, contractual issues and participation in negotiations.Identify key contractual risks and help develop practical solutions that support business objectives.Monitor German and European legislation and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s business, particularly in IT, technology, telecommunications, information security and cyber security.Research and assess new or changing legal and regulatory requirements and identify their potential impact on the business. Support the practical implementation of applicable regulatory requirements within relevant business processes and activities.Provide clear, practical and solution-oriented legal advice to business and functional teams on commercial, contractual and regulatory matters.Work closely with cross-functional and international teams including Procurement, Sales, Information Security, Data Privacy, HR, Finance and Operations to help identify and address legal and regulatory risks at early stage and support effective business solutions.
Requirements
Law degree and admission to practice law in the EU/EEA (Germany preferred).Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in-house.Experience in an international business environment is highly valued, particularly within the telecommunications, software or technology sectors.Experience with legal management of delivery and change of large-scale IT solution projects is desirable.Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity; able to collaborate across regions and disciplines with professionalism and discretion.Demonstrated ability to manage cross-border legal matters, including commercial contracting and regulatory issues.Experience in monitoring legislation and regulatory developments and supporting their practical implementation within a business environment.Fluency in English and German is required.
