Library Collection Development & Acquisition Specialist

We are looking for a Library Collection Development & Acquisition Specialist to develop and curate a diverse collection of 400 books, aligned with the audience, cultural context, educational objectives, programming needs, and multilingual requirements.Key Responsibilities• Review the existing collection and Loaning System to identify gaps, duplication, and collection development opportunities.• Develop a structured Book Selection Methodology and selection criteria.• Research and recommend titles across different subjects, age groups, and languages, including Arabic, English, French, and Chinese.• Identify books that support workshops, reading programmes, school visits, and community events.• Build relationships with publishers, authors, distributors, bookstores, and cultural institutions locally and internationally.• Source books and negotiate availability, pricing, editions, delivery, and discounts.• Review and verify proposed titles, including author, publisher, language, publication date, ISBN, target age group, availability, and price.• Ensure selected titles comply with Saudi regulations and acquisition requirements.• Develop the final Book Acquisition List and provide recommendations for future collection updates.Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree or higher in Library & Information Science, Library Management, Literature, Publishing, Cultural Management, or a related field.• Strong knowledge of collection development and library acquisition practices.• Knowledge of regional and international publishing markets.• Existing relationships with publishers, authors, distributors, bookstores, or cultural institutions.• Strong understanding of children's, young adult, and adult literature.• Strong research, analytical, bibliographic, communication, and negotiation skills.Interested candidates are invited to submit their updated CV for considerationhr@thehappinessfactory.com
