Minimum Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS)
• Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship– Waivers may be considered for candidates who have completed an APA-accredited postdoctoral residency or fellowship, or who hold board certification from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
• Current, active licensure in a U.S. state, territory, or districtIncentives & Compensation Highlights:
• 💰 Sign-on Bonus Options:– $42,500 for a 3-year service obligation– $65,000 for a 4-year service obligation
• 💼 Board Certification Pay:– $8,000 annual rate, prorated monthlyWhat does “board certification pay” mean?In the Navy, board certification pay is an additional financial incentive awarded to psychologists who achieve and maintain board certification (e.g., through ABPP). The $8,000 is calculated as a yearly rate but paid out in monthly installments (approximately $666/month). “Prorated monthly” means you receive this pay only for the months you are actively board certified and eligible—so if your certification starts or ends mid-year, your payment is adjusted accordingly.Roles & Responsibilities:As a Clinical Psychologist and Officer in America’s Navy, you will provide clinical care to service members and their families. You will encounter a wide array of clinical conditions, including those unique to the military environment. In addition to providing clinical care to address the full spectrum of mental health concerns, Navy Clinical Psychologists provide support to the Navy and Marine Corps by:
• Conducting therapy and providing clinical care to service members in deployed settings
• Administering and interpreting assessments and evaluations
• Conducting seminars to help service members, including senior leadership, maintain positive mental health
• Participating in military training exercises that enhance the ability to reach service members in diverse environments
• Providing training and mentorship to new generations of psychologists
• Serving in leadership and policy positions aimed at sustaining mental health within the military
