This environment values authenticity, collaboration, and continuous learning in support of client and clinician wellness.Role Description The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will provide individual and, when appropriate, family or relationship-focused counseling to clients using culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, delivering psychotherapy sessions, documenting clinical encounters, and coordinating care with other providers or community supports as needed. The counselor will also offer psychoeducation, crisis support within scope, and referrals to additional resources to promote holistic wellness and sustainable behavior change. This is a contract role with a hybrid work arrangement, based in Newark, NJ, with a combination of in-person sessions and some work from home for telehealth and documentation. The role involves regular collaboration with leadership to refine services, uphold ethical standards, and support a positive, growth-oriented practice culture.Qualifications Strong foundation in Mental Health and Psychology, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed manner.Proficiency in Treatment Planning, including assessing client needs, setting collaborative goals, and regularly evaluating progress and outcomes.Experience in Relationship Counseling or work with couples and families, with skills in communication, conflict resolution, and relational dynamics.Competence in Case Management, including coordination of services, referrals to community resources, and collaboration with multidisciplinary providers.Current licensure or eligibility as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (or equivalent license such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in New Jersey.Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive care and working with diverse communities, including understanding of systemic stressors and community strengths.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and comfort with telehealth platforms and electronic health records.Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and confidentiality while working independently in a hybrid setting.Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.Experience with holistic or integrative wellness practices and interest in ongoing professional development is beneficial.
