SLM Counseling offers a supportive, values-based and in-person space where clients can reconnect with their needs and sense of self, and move forward with greater calm and confidence.Role Description The Licensed Professional Counselor will provide individual counseling services to adult clients, using evidence-based and person-centered approaches aligned with SLM Counseling’s values. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating ongoing sessions, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and coordinating care as needed with other providers. The counselor will also engage in case consultation, participate in professional development, and uphold ethical and legal standards of practice. This is a part-time or full-time, virtual and on-site role located in Chicago, IL.QualificationsActive Illinois licensure as an LPC or equivalent, with eligibility to practice independently under supervision as required.Demonstrated skills in individual psychotherapy, including assessment, treatment planning, and use of evidence-based interventions.Strong ability to build therapeutic rapport, demonstrate empathy, and maintain clear professional boundaries.Comfort working with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, CPTSD, and patterns of over-functioning or perfectionism.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate, timely clinical documentation.Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and trauma-informed care for diverse client populations.Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.Willingness to engage in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development.
