The mission of the Osher Marin JCC is to celebrate, strengthen, and sustain Jewish life and culture, foster cross-cultural understanding, and enrich the lives of everyone in the surrounding community.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lifeguard role located in San Rafael, CA. The Lifeguard will monitor pool activities, ensure patron safety, and enforce facility rules and policies in and around the aquatic areas. Daily responsibilities include constant surveillance of swimmers, preventing unsafe behaviors, responding quickly and calmly to emergencies, and providing first aid and CPR when needed. The Lifeguard will also conduct regular pool checks, maintain a clean and safe deck environment, support swim lessons and aquatic programs, and communicate clearly with patrons and team members. The role involves collaborating with other staff, attending ongoing trainings, and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive community atmosphere.Qualifications Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross) and strong water safety skills.CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.Strong observation, risk assessment, and incident prevention skills in aquatic environments.Clear, respectful communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with people of all ages and backgrounds.Reliability in maintaining schedules, punctuality, and readiness for varying shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, follow established protocols, and support a positive, inclusive community setting.Physical ability to perform rescues, remain attentive for extended periods, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.Prior experience in a pool, aquatic center, camp, or recreation setting is beneficial; familiarity with community or nonprofit environments is a plus.
