Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, & Youth Swim Coaches

MPS Community Education is in search of responsible, attentive, and safety-focused professionals to help provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive aquatic environment for the greater Minneapolis community!

Qualifications

Minimum of 16 years of ageLIFEGUARD: Lifeguarding certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire dateSWIM INSTRUCTOR: Water Safety Instructor certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 daysSWIM COACH: USA Swimming Coach (or Jr Coach) certification, or must be willing to obtain within 30 days

Responsibilities

Maintain a clean and safe environment Supervise activity in and around the poolDemonstrate knowledge and aptitude in swim skillsEnforce safety policies, guidelines, and proceduresRecognize and respond effectively in an emergencyCommunicate professionally with individuals of all agesFacilitate swim program and building needsPhysical Requirements:Pass a pre-employment test of skills and knowledgeWork in a variety of environments that may be cold, hot, wet, noisy, odorousConcentrate for long periods of time and maintain constant surveillanceCommunicate verbally and loudly across distancesWalk, stand, sit, reach, and kneel for long periods of timeBend and lift in accordance with certification requirementsMaintain fitness in order to meet the requirements of certification(s)
