Liferay Technical Lead – DXP & Web Development

About the RoleDigital Next UAE is looking for an experienced Liferay Technical Lead / Solution Architect to lead the technical delivery of a major Abu Dhabi government digital transformation programme.This is specifically a Liferay DXP and Java application-engineering leadership role. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on Liferay experience who can own technical architecture, guide developers, review implementation quality, resolve complex technical issues, and drive delivery across multiple parallel web-platform workstreams.The programme involves a large-scale, multi-site enterprise web ecosystem built on Liferay DXP and Microsoft Azure, with reusable components, shared services, integrations, search, content migration and bilingual Arabic/English digital experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the technical architecture and delivery of Liferay DXP solutions.Lead and mentor Liferay/Java developers across multiple parallel workstreams.Translate solution architecture and business requirements into implementable technical designs.Design reusable Liferay components, templates, content structures, workflows and services.Provide hands-on technical guidance across Liferay DXP 7.x/7.4, Java/J2EE, OSGi, REST APIs and modern frontend technologies.Guide implementation using relevant Liferay capabilities including Fragments, Client Extensions, Objects, Headless APIs, permissions and workflows.Lead code reviews, design reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization and technical quality assurance.Define development standards, branching strategies, CI/CD practices and release processes.Support delivery across Development, Test, Staging, Pre-Production, Production and DR environments.Lead technical integration with government and enterprise APIs, identity services and third-party platforms.Ensure solutions meet requirements for security, scalability, performance, accessibility, availability and maintainability.Work closely with solution architects, DevOps/cloud teams, UX teams, business analysts and project leadership.Required Experience8+ years of software engineering experience.3+ years of hands-on Liferay experience.Strong production experience with Liferay DXP 7.x; Liferay DXP 7.4 strongly preferred.Strong hands-on Java/J2EE development experience.Experience with Liferay technologies such as OSGi modules, Service Builder, Fragments, Client Extensions, Objects, Headless APIs, workflows, permissions and reusable content structures.Experience leading technical delivery as a Technical Lead, Liferay Lead Developer or Solution Architect.Strong experience with REST APIs and enterprise system integrations.Experience with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular or equivalent.Experience with Elasticsearch/search technologies.Understanding of CI/CD, Git, DevOps and enterprise release management.Experience designing secure, scalable and highly available enterprise applications.Highly PreferredLiferay DXP 7.4 and/or Liferay Cloud/PaaS experience.Microsoft Azure experience.Docker/Kubernetes/containerized deployment experience.Multi-site or multi-entity enterprise DXP implementations.Large-scale CMS/DXP migration programmes.UAE/GCC government digital-platform experience.Experience with bilingual Arabic/English platforms.Accessibility/WCAG and SEO knowledge.Arabic-speaking candidates are highly preferred.LocationAbu Dhabi, UAE — On-siteCandidates currently outside the UAE who have strong Liferay expertise and are willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi are also encouraged to apply.
