Linux & Backup Administrator

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced Linux & Backup Administrator to join their Infrastructure Operations team. This role is responsible for managing Linux environments and enterprise backup solutions, ensuring system availability, data protection, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance with organizational policies and SLAs.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers, including RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, and SUSE.Perform server provisioning, patching, upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle management.Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall infrastructure health.Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and authentication services.Configure and support services such as Apache, Nginx, SSH, DNS, NTP, and FTP.Troubleshoot operating system, network, storage, and application-related issues.Administer enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, Rubrik, or Dell Networker.Configure backup policies, schedules, retention periods, encryption, and storage targets.Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures, and perform file, database, virtual machine, and application restores.Conduct backup validation and disaster recovery testing.Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible.Monitor infrastructure using tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or SolarWinds.Support virtualization and cloud-hosted Linux workloads across VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, or GCP.Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, recovery plans, and capacity reports.Support security audits, vulnerability remediation, compliance initiatives, and data protection requirements.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.3–8 years of experience in Linux system administration.Hands-on experience managing enterprise backup platforms.Experience supporting production, high-availability, and mission-critical environments.Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or SUSE.Proficiency in Bash scripting and familiarity with Python or Ansible automation.Experience with one or more backup technologies, such as Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, or Rubrik.Knowledge of SAN, NAS, NFS, and CIFS storage technologies.Understanding of VMware, Hyper-V, or major cloud platforms.Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewall concepts, monitoring, and alerting.Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity processes.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.Preferred CertificationsRHCSA or RHCELPICCommvault Certified ProfessionalVeeam VMCEITIL FoundationAWS, Azure, or GCP Administrator certification
