Linux Engineer

Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Linux Engineer (L2/L3) to manage, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux server environments. The role will be responsible for server administration, patching, hardening, performance optimization, lifecycle management, automation, and advanced technical support.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain enterprise Linux servers across development, test, and production environments.Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems.Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting and resolve complex server issues.Monitor server performance, availability, capacity, and system health.Perform system hardening in accordance with security standards.Manage users, groups, permissions, sudo policies, and authentication.Configure and troubleshoot system services and networking components.Manage package installation, updates, repositories, and dependencies.Support Linux server lifecycle, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.Perform root-cause analysis for recurring infrastructure issues.Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar tools.Support virtualization and cloud-based Linux environments where required.Monitor logs and investigate system and application-level issues.Implement security patches and remediation activities.Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure projects.Collaborate with network, security, storage, application, and Windows teams.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.4–7 years of experience in Linux system administration or engineering.Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or equivalent distributions.Strong knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting.Experience with patching, hardening, monitoring, and performance optimization.Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, NTP, storage, and Linux networking.Experience with Bash scripting and automation.Knowledge of virtualization and enterprise infrastructure environments.Experience working in production environments with high availability requirements.Preferred CertificationsRHCSARHCELinux Foundation certificationRelevant vendor Linux certificationKey SkillsLinux / RHELSystem AdministrationServer HardeningPatching & Lifecycle ManagementPerformance MonitoringBash / Shell ScriptingTroubleshootingNetworkingStorageVirtualizationAutomationIncident & Problem Management
