Apply & track with Apply EdgeLogistics ManagerSalary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experienceLocation: Black Sheep Brewery, MashamJob Type: Full-timeKey RequirementsTransport Manager CPC (UK Road Haulage) – EssentialExperience managing an Operator Licence – EssentialProven Transport/Logistics Management experience – EssentialMulti-drop delivery experience – Highly desirableAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Logistics Manager to lead the brewery’s transport, logistics and distribution operations from our Black Sheep Brewery site.This is a key management position with responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of our products to customers. You will lead our transport and warehouse teams, oversee fleet performance, maintain transport compliance and ensure consistently high levels of customer service.You will also play an important role in identifying and delivering improvements across our logistics operation, helping to improve efficiency, control costs and maintain the high standards expected by our customers.The successful candidate will be a confident and hands-on manager who is comfortable working across both office and operational environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage transport and distribution operations from Black Sheep Brewery and wider group sites where required, ensuring deliveries to customer depots, trade customers and licensed premises are completed safely, efficiently and on time.Manage, motivate and develop a team of drivers, warehouse operatives and logistics administration staff.Build a positive, accountable and safety-focused team culture.Plan and optimise multi-drop delivery routes and schedules, taking into account customer requirements, vehicle capacity, driver hours and site access restrictions.Ensure full compliance with UK transport legislation, including drivers’ hours, tachograph requirements, vehicle checks, defect reporting and operational procedures.Take responsibility for the effective management of the Operator Licence, ensuring all transport compliance requirements are maintained.Manage fleet operations, including vehicle availability, servicing, maintenance, cleanliness and operational readiness.Monitor transport costs, including fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation, repairs and maintenance expenditure.Work closely with brewing, production and warehouse teams to maintain stock accuracy, product availability, stock rotation and traceability.Ensure the safe handling and movement of casks, kegs, packaged products, brewery equipment and other materials.Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the transport, warehouse and yard operations.Monitor driver and fleet performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and safety.Investigate delivery issues, customer complaints, incidents and near misses, implementing appropriate corrective and preventative actions.Ensure consistently high standards of customer service are delivered by all transport and distribution personnel.Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and distribution operations.Work closely with senior management and other departments to support wider business objectives.What We’re Looking ForEssentialProven experience in a Transport or Logistics Management role, ideally within a multi-drop delivery environment.Current Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in UK Road Haulage.Proven experience managing an Operator Licence and transport compliance.Thorough understanding of UK transport legislation, including drivers’ hours, tachographs and vehicle compliance.Experience managing and developing operational teams.Experience working in a physically demanding warehouse, transport or distribution environment.Good understanding of health and safety, particularly manual handling and operational risk management.Experience using ERP, WMS and/or route planning systems.Excellent communication and people-management skills.Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on safety, service and continuous improvement.DesirableExperience within the brewing, drinks, food or FMCG distribution sector.Understanding of cask and keg handling and brewery distribution operations.Previous HGV driving experience.IOSH, NEBOSH or another recognised Health & Safety qualification.Experience delivering continuous improvement or operational efficiency projects.About the Working Environment· This role combines office-based management responsibilities with regular operational activity across the warehouse, yard and transport environment.· The role involves periods of sitting, standing and walking throughout the working day, as well as working within a busy operational environment where physically demanding manual handling will be required.· Reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate to support applicants in meeting the requirements of the role.Why Join Us?This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager or Logistics Manager to take ownership of a key operational function within a well-established brewery business.You will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on:Transport and distribution performanceFleet efficiency and cost controlOperator Licence and transport complianceCustomer serviceDriver and team developmentHealth & SafetyContinuous improvementIf you have the Transport Manager CPC, experience managing an Operator Licence, and the leadership skills to run a busy multi-drop distribution operation, we would love to hear from you.
