Apply & track with Apply EdgePosition OverviewThe Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods, materials, and products throughout the supply chain. The role manages transportation, warehousing, inventory, order fulfilment, distribution, logistics suppliers, and operational resources to ensure deliveries are completed accurately, safely, on time, and within approved cost targets.The Logistics Manager works closely with suppliers, carriers, warehouses, customers, procurement teams, sales, finance, operations, and other internal departments to maintain a smooth flow of goods and information. The role is also responsible for developing logistics strategies, monitoring operational performance, managing risks and disruptions, improving processes, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable transportation and logistics regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement logistics strategies, policies, procedures, and operational plans to improve transportation, warehousing, distribution, and delivery performance.Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring goods and materials are received, stored, processed, and delivered according to agreed schedules.Oversee transportation activities including carrier selection, route planning, delivery scheduling, shipment tracking, freight coordination, and transport capacity planning.Manage relationships with logistics providers, freight forwarders, transport companies, couriers, subcontractors, suppliers, and distribution partners.Negotiate transportation rates, service agreements, delivery terms, and logistics contracts while maintaining appropriate service levels and cost efficiency.Monitor shipment status, delivery performance, lead times, delays, damages, shortages, and other transportation issues, taking corrective action when required.Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, loading, and stock movement.Maintain appropriate inventory levels and coordinate with procurement, supply planning, sales, and operations teams to prevent stock shortages, excess inventory, and fulfilment delays.Monitor inventory accuracy through stock counts, cycle counts, system records, reconciliation, and investigation of discrepancies.Coordinate order fulfilment activities and ensure customer orders are processed accurately and delivered within agreed service requirements.Monitor logistics costs including freight, transportation, warehousing, storage, handling, packaging, and third-party logistics expenses.Prepare and manage logistics budgets, forecasts, cost analysis, and expenditure reports while identifying opportunities for cost reduction and resource optimization.Establish and monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, freight cost, warehouse productivity, lead time, and service levels.Analyse logistics data and operational trends to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve delivery reliability, warehouse productivity, inventory management, route efficiency, and overall operational performance.Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure materials and products are available according to operational requirements and delivery schedules.Ensure accurate logistics documentation including purchase orders, delivery orders, shipping documents, invoices, customs documentation, transport records, and proof of delivery.Support import and export activities and coordinate with freight forwarders, customs agents, carriers, and relevant authorities where required.Ensure logistics operations comply with company procedures, contractual requirements, safety standards, customs requirements, and applicable transportation regulations.Identify potential supply chain disruptions, transportation risks, capacity constraints, supplier issues, and delivery delays, and develop appropriate contingency plans.Manage logistics-related customer complaints and operational issues, ensuring timely investigation, communication, and resolution.Lead, supervise, train, and develop logistics personnel including warehouse staff, inventory controllers, transport coordinators, and other operational employees.Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, work schedules, and productivity targets for the logistics team.Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and other departments to improve end-to-end supply chain coordination.Maintain accurate records, operational reports, supplier information, inventory data, and logistics documentation.Evaluate logistics technology, warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, tracking solutions, and automation opportunities to improve visibility and operational efficiency.Prepare regular management reports covering logistics performance, costs, inventory, transportation activities, service levels, risks, and improvement initiatives.Support business continuity planning and ensure appropriate arrangements are available for peak periods, urgent shipments, supply disruptions, and unexpected operational requirements.RequirementsBachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transportation, Operations Management, or a related discipline.Proven experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, supply chain, or a related operational environment, with previous supervisory or management experience preferred.Strong knowledge of logistics operations, transportation management, warehouse processes, inventory control, order fulfilment, and distribution.Experience managing carriers, freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers, suppliers, transporters, and other logistics partners.Strong understanding of shipment planning, route optimization, delivery scheduling, freight management, and logistics documentation.Experience with inventory management, stock reconciliation, warehouse processes, and inventory accuracy improvement.Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse freight costs, warehouse expenses, supplier rates, budgets, and operational performance.Excellent negotiation, vendor management, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, operational priorities, and unexpected logistics issues in a fast-paced environment.Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, train, and develop logistics and warehouse teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using ERP, WMS, TMS, inventory management, or logistics tracking systems.Knowledge of import/export procedures, customs documentation, international shipping, and trade compliance is an advantage.Familiarity with logistics KPIs, supply chain analytics, Lean practices, process improvement, and operational efficiency methodologies.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and external service providers.Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of making practical decisions under time-sensitive conditions.Relevant certifications such as APICS/ASCM, CSCP, CLTD, CIPS, or other logistics and supply chain qualifications are an advantage.Strong command of English and the ability to prepare professional reports, operational documentation, and management presentations.
