The Logistics Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling logistics operations for construction projects. The role ensures the timely and efficient movement of construction materials, equipment, tools, and other project-related items to and from project sites, while maintaining proper documentation, clearance, tracking, and compliance with project requirements.The position works closely with Procurement, Project Management, Engineering, Warehouse, Site Operations, HSE, and suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with project schedules and specifications.Job ResponsibilitiesCoordinate inbound and outbound shipments of construction materials, equipment, tools, and project supplies.Arrange transportation, delivery schedules, and site access requirements in coordination with project and logistics teams.Handle shipment and customs clearance activities for imported construction materials and equipment.Track and monitor shipments from supplier to project site and ensure on-time delivery.Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transporters, and site teams to resolve logistics issues.Prepare and maintain logistics plans aligned with project schedules, material requirements, and construction milestones.Develop and maintain reports related to material movement, deliveries, shipments, transportation, and logistics performance.Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders regarding shipment and delivery status.Coordinate with Procurement and Project teams to ensure logistics arrangements are aligned with Purchase Orders and project requirements.Monitor the movement of materials and equipment to and from the construction workface without causing damage to the works, workforce, equipment, or public.Coordinate heavy equipment and oversized/over-dimensional transportation when required for construction activities.Ensure proper handling, loading, unloading, storage, and transportation of construction materials.Support site teams in planning material deliveries according to available storage areas and work fronts.Develop and implement logistics procedures, method statements, and standard operating procedures for project logistics activities.Identify potential logistics risks and delays and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.Coordinate with Warehouse and Site teams to maintain accurate records of material receipts, deliveries, and movements.Ensure all logistics activities comply with project requirements, company policies, applicable regulations, and contractual obligations.Support the planning and implementation of logistics requirements for new projects, including transportation resources, manpower, equipment, budget, and timelines.Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.Ensure construction materials and equipment reach the required location in good condition and within the required timeframe.Support HSE initiatives and ensure safe logistics, transportation, lifting, loading, unloading, and material-handling practices.Participate in safety inspections, awareness activities, incident reporting, and corrective actions in accordance with company HSE and IMS policies.Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes, reduce transportation costs, minimize delays, and improve overall project efficiency.Job Knowledge & SkillsStrong knowledge of construction project logistics and material movement.Good knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics operations.Knowledge of import/export procedures and customs clearance for construction materials and equipment.Experience in transportation planning and coordination, including heavy and oversized cargo.Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, tools, and site logistics requirements.Ability to coordinate deliveries according to construction schedules and work fronts.Strong vendor, supplier, freight forwarder, and transporter coordination skills.Good understanding of logistics documentation, shipping documents, delivery notes, customs documents, and material receiving procedures.Strong communication and coordination skills with multicultural teams.Good problem-solving and time-management skills.Computer literate in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.Experience with ERP systems; SAP knowledge is preferred.Ability to prepare logistics reports, KPIs, tracking logs, and delivery schedules.Knowledge of HSE requirements related to transportation, lifting, loading, unloading, and material handling.Job ExperienceMinimum 5 years of overall logistics experience.Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction, EPC, infrastructure, oil & gas, or industrial projects.GCC experience is preferred, with 2 years or more considered an advantage.Experience working on large-scale construction projects is highly preferred.Experience dealing with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and transportation companies is an advantage.EducationBachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.Professional certification or training in Logistics, Supply Chain, Customs, or Transportation Management is preferred.
