Machine Learning Engineer

The OpportunityMy client is an innovative medical technology company developing advanced imaging and AI solutions for healthcare diagnostics. As part of a major R&D programme, they are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to help develop next-generation computer vision and medical image analysis technologies.Working within a multidisciplinary international team, you will contribute to the development, validation, and deployment of AI-powered solutions that support clinical decision-making and medical imaging workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimise machine learning and deep learning models for medical image analysis.Train, validate, and evaluate computer vision models using large-scale image datasets.Build and maintain data pipelines, image processing tools, and software components.Collaborate with clinical and engineering teams on data collection, annotation, and model performance assessment.Support deployment of AI models into software products and GPU-based environments.Contribute to testing, validation, and technical documentation in line with medical device development standards.RequirementsDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.Commercial experience in machine learning, with a strong focus on computer vision.Strong Python development skills.Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.Knowledge of model evaluation metrics including ROC/AUC, precision, recall, sensitivity, and specificity.Experience working with large datasets and GPU-based training environments.Strong English communication skills.Desirable ExperienceMedical imaging, digital pathology, histology, or microscopy.Regulated medical device software development.ISO 13485, IEC 62304, or related quality standards.Cloud platforms and modern software infrastructure.LocationBased in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with flexible remote working available within the region. Occasional international travel may be required.
