Junior / Mid-Level Machine Learning Engineer (Accepting Grads also)Location: Fully Remote, Scotland based candidates onlySalary: Up to £50,000Recruitment Partner: SearchabilityThe OpportunitySearchability is working with a growing AI technology startup to recruit a Junior / Mid-Level Machine Learning Engineer.The company is developing an AI-powered platform that helps organisations find and win funding and contracts, using AI and machine learning to identify relevant opportunities and support the process of creating applications and bids.This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to build their career within AI/ML in an early-stage startup environment. We're open to candidates ranging from high-calibre graduates through to ML Engineers with a few years of commercial experience.The role is fully remote, but you must be based in Scotland.The RoleYou'll join a small technical team where you'll have the opportunity to work on real-world machine learning problems and contribute directly to the development of the company's AI platform.Rather than being restricted to one small part of a large engineering organisation, you'll have the opportunity to get involved across the ML lifecycle, learn quickly and see your work make it into a customer-facing product.We're particularly interested in people who are curious, ambitious and hungry to develop, and who genuinely want the pace and responsibility that comes with working for a startup/scale-up.What You'll Be DoingDeveloping and improving machine learning and AI capabilitiesWorking primarily with Python and ML technologiesContributing to NLP and language-focused machine learning problemsWorking with data to train, test and improve modelsHelping turn ML ideas and experiments into features used within a real productEvaluating model performance and identifying opportunities for improvementWorking closely with experienced engineers and the wider businessResearching and experimenting with new approaches where appropriateTaking increasing ownership of technical problems as you developKeeping up to date with developments across AI, ML and LLM technologiesWhat We're Looking ForWe're flexible on professional experience and will consider both graduates and experienced Junior/Mid-Level ML Engineers.You'll ideally have:A strong academic background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or another highly technical subjectGood Python programming abilityUnderstanding of fundamental machine learning conceptsExposure to technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar ML frameworksAn interest in NLP, LLMs and modern AI technologiesStrong problem-solving and analytical abilityA genuine desire to build commercial AI productsThe motivation to learn quickly and take ownershipAn interest in working within an early-stage startup/scale-up environmentFor graduate candidates, we're particularly interested in seeing strong academic projects, dissertations, internships, research or personal projects demonstrating practical ML ability.For candidates with commercial experience, hands-on experience developing, deploying or improving ML models in production would be highly valuable.What's on OfferSalary up to £50,000Fully remote workingMust be based in ScotlandOpen to graduates through to Mid-Level ML EngineersOpportunity to build commercial AI/ML experience from an early stageWork directly on a growing AI-powered productExposure to Python, machine learning, NLP and LLM technologiesSignificant opportunity to learn and take on more responsibilityJoin a small team where your work can have a visible impact on the product and companyGenuine startup environment with the opportunity to grow alongside the business
