Apply & track with Apply EdgeMachine Learning Research ScientistResearching the models that will power the next generation of autonomous robots. We’re partnering with an early-stage UK robotics company building learning-based systems capable of operating in complex, real-world environments. They’re looking for a Machine Learning Research Scientist to take on fundamental research problems around robot intelligence. The focus spans vision-language-action models, world models, representation learning and robot learning, with a clear goal: developing models that can understand their environment, learn new behaviours and transfer knowledge beyond the conditions they were trained on.This isn’t a role where research stops at benchmarks. You’ll be able to take ideas from first principles through to experimentation and ultimately see how they perform on physical robotic systems. What we're looking forYou’ll likely come from a strong research environment in machine learning, computer vision, robotics or embodied AI and be comfortable working in areas where the answers aren't already known. You should have excellent foundations in deep learning and mathematics, alongside practical experience designing experiments, training models and interpreting results. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys the full research process — identifying an interesting problem, forming a hypothesis, building the experiment and using the results to decide what to explore next. You’ll join while the company and research programme are still being shaped, giving you genuine influence over both. There’s meaningful early-stage equity, substantial research autonomy and the opportunity to work closely with a small technical team on problems at the frontier of robotics, embodied intelligence and Physical AI.
