This role involves setting up and operating CNC equipment, including a 5-axis Nomura machining center, maintaining dimensional accuracy and product quality, and training and mentoring other machinists.Pay: $40.90/hourOvertime Pay: $61.35/hour (1.5x regular rate)Schedule: 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, five 10-hour workdays per week (50 hours/week)Additional Overtime: Available for those interestedRelocation Assistance: Some assistance may be availableSponsorship: Not available for this positionResponsibilitiesSet up and operate conventional machines, CNC machines, and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.Operate a Nomura HBA-135P-R5 CNC machine with 5-axis capability.Serve as a machining subject matter expert, training, mentoring, and assessing other machinists.Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.Follow machining sequences and setup requirements across multiple machine types.Measure and mark materials and workpieces for machining.Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment.Set and adjust machining parameters, including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.Retrieve, enter, edit, or write CNC programs, including G and M code.Perform trial runs to verify machine settings and programmed control data.Monitor operations, troubleshoot malfunctions and alignment issues, and make necessary adjustments.Inspect finished parts and assemblies to verify dimensions, alignment, and compliance with specifications.Fit and assemble parts into complete assemblies.Identify worn tooling, replace cutting components, and perform required daily preventive maintenance.Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production personnel to resolve machining and assembly issues.Complete required documentation and follow safety and security procedures.QualificationsExperience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines.Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining equipment.Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.Ability to accurately complete work-related documentation.Ability to read, write, and understand English.Commitment to safe work practices.Preferred QualificationsFive or more years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with Nomura machines and controls.Experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Okuma OSP CNC controls.Journeyman Machinist, Millwright, Provincial Trade, or Red Seal certification.Knowledge of critical safety devices and permit systems.
