The Mainboard Repair Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of motherboard and printed circuit board (PCB) repair activities within a high-volume electronics repair environment. This role oversees a team of technicians, drives operational excellence, ensures quality and productivity objectives are achieved, and implements continuous improvement initiatives that enhance repair efficiency, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction.The successful candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in board-level diagnostics, electronics repair, failure analysis, and team development. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Operations teams to deliver cost-effective and high-quality repair solutions. Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop a team of repair technicians and technical leads.Establish performance expectations and monitor productivity, quality, and turnaround metrics.Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.Foster a culture of accountability, safety, continuous learning, and operational excellence.Support workforce planning, staffing, training, and succession development initiatives.Repair Operations & Technical OversightManage day-to-day motherboard and PCB repair operations for computing, server, networking, and consumer electronic products.Oversee advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and functional testing activities.Provide technical guidance for complex failure analysis and root cause investigations.Ensure proper use of diagnostic equipment, testing systems, soldering stations, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and rework tools.Support component-level repairs, BGA rework, soldering, reflow processes, and replacement of electronic components.Quality & Continuous ImprovementDevelop, implement, and maintain repair procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.Monitor repair quality metrics and conduct audits to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to repair defects and process failures.Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to improve productivity, yield, and cycle time.Drive initiatives that reduce scrap, rework, warranty costs, and repair turnaround times.Inventory & Materials ManagementCollaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to maintain adequate inventory levels for repair components and consumables.Monitor parts usage, inventory accuracy, and cost control measures.Support forecasting and planning activities to ensure operational readiness.Evaluate opportunities for alternate sourcing and inventory optimization.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer SupportServe as the escalation point for complex technical and customer issues.Partner with Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Logistics teams to resolve repair-related concerns.Communicate repair status, operational performance, and issue resolution plans to internal stakeholders and customers when required.Support new product introductions by establishing repair processes and technical documentation.Reporting & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of repair activities, failure analysis results, inventory usage, and operational performance.Analyze repair trends, productivity metrics, and quality data to identify improvement opportunities.Prepare management reports and dashboards related to repair volume, turnaround time, first-pass yield, and cost performance.Ensure compliance with documentation, regulatory, and customer requirements.Required QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.IPC certifications (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-J-STD-001) are highly desirable.Experience5+ years of experience in electronics repair, PCB troubleshooting, or motherboard repair environments.2+ years of leadership experience managing technicians, engineers, or repair operations teams.Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing, depot repair, or service operations.Proven success driving process improvements, productivity gains, and quality improvements.Technical SkillsStrong understanding of motherboard architecture, electronic components, circuits, and PCB functionality.Expertise in component-level diagnostics and failure analysis.Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, soldering and rework equipment.Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, repair documentation, and engineering specifications.Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting motherboard repair for servers, notebooks, desktops, networking equipment, or consumer electronics.Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.Familiarity with ERP, MES, and repair tracking systems.Experience managing KPIs including First Pass Yield (FPY), Turnaround Time (TAT), Repair Yield, Cost per Repair, and Technician Productivity.
